Nice looking car and an interesting base too.

Just a comment/question based totally on the pictures on this thread and not wishing to be critical.... how flexible will you need to be to get in & out of the car when it has a roof on it? Them doors look pretty small to me......

It might not be any worse than getting in & out of our Westy with it's roof on...but it does look it in those pictures due to the (attractive) rake of the screen.

I've gotta say, I don't know. I certainly won't be as difficult as a 'Westy'.

Without the roof there is no problem. You do slide in and sit nice & low. At 6'1" I didn't feel anything from over the windscreen and had very clear vision.

Hi All

We will have some decent tyres on the car for Castle Coombe (probably toyos) so that should be even more representative of the car's abilities.

Can't remember personally being passed by a Libra BTW, although there were 4 of us driving the car and we did have some passengers in all day. Did pass a yellow one down the pit straight myself after following for a lap or so.

I will post some hard top pics and interior pics very soon, just as soon as I can get some decent ones. The interior is now trimmed in alacantara and more reflective of the production cars.

Can I just say that at Adrenaline we are all very encouraged by the positive responses we have had to the car. Keep the feedback coming.

Slowing down lap?......

Hey,I wasn't having a dig, and it wasn't a race. You never know the circumstances, and we were all supposed to be driving at 70%.........

Just commenting that overall the Murtaya didn't seem ballistic as I expected, even in a straight line. That Z-cars MINI several times came past me while I was at full chat, you can tell that was a serious performer. But I think that was explained by you using rubbish tyres. Can't personally see the logic in using cheap tyres for development on a performance car. You will get NO development data from shit tyres, even for ride quality and especially round Brands Hatch. Not when decent tyres can be very cheap, especially for Impreza's (I have one also). No body would ever use winky-wong cheapies on your car. GTM supposedly sold their demonstrator and FIVE complete kits at the show, after we had given demo rides. The passengers needed to be persuaded that GTM's were for them, and I had to explain several times why the £6k TalonSportscars Metro was just as fast as a £25k GTM (same engine, no weight, Quaife diff, sticky tyres). I have no reason to doubt your car is a serious performer and I will seriously consider building one myself next year when i finally get bored of mine....... Apologies, Lee.

Oh I dunno Lee - makes it easy to see what the chassis balance is like when the car starts sliding at 30mph...

Point taken, but you do not learn much about how progressive it is at 1g lateral load, 90 mph with Z rated tyres. Glad you enjoyed the ride with me Graham anyway! Just got a set of 888r's and a progressive Nitrous system for it, must try it again soon......

Thanks for that. I still laugh at a comment some wee kid made to her mum as I clambered out of the Westy one rainy day........'mummy, how did that big fat man fit inside that tiny little car???'

Like I said, nice looking car, interesting project - very best of luck. I'm pretty much 'kitted-out' so don't expect I'll be building again...but this is certainly one I'd consider if I was.

No offence taken furyblade. All feedback is good feedback.
Regarding the tyres. Those tyres were a budget deal we got with the wheels that were intended originally just for 1000 miles running in of the re built engine. When we ran at Brands on the friday we were still running very much rev limited as upto that point we still only had 400 miles on the chassis and engine. This rev limit of course increased as we completed Friday and went into the Saturday but we still continued to run the 'wooden' tyres just to get this running in life out of them. We also were not 'racing' (as that's not allowed is it? but getting good hard miles on the car while we could take round parties who had contacted us prior to the event. We did get quicker as they day went on but all the time were conscious this was a production road car on a race track, and were taking passenger rides all the time.
We do intend to have the track version ready for next year's live events. That will have a serious engine, different geometry and will definately be on serious rubber. (Can't wait for that one!)
BTW, I have seen on a forum somewhere a comment (I think by Black 5) that the car has perspex windows. All production cars will have glass side windows.

Keep the comments coming BTW
Cheers

What about making the hard top with a T bar roof that could make driver/passenger's popping in and out easier?

Or gull wing centrally hinged panels in the hard top to link up with the glass side-windows?

But what do I know...

Drove the Murtaya yesterday and can confirm that entry with the hardtop on isn't as bad as it initially looks. It requires a certain degree of agility (and the right technique) certainly, but presented no probelms for this 5' 9" skinny bod. Probably only slightly trickier than getting into an Elise and I reckon I could live with it on a daily basis.

Graham--

You drove the Murtaya and that's all you have to say?! How was it? Please, tell all! Unless, of course, you're saving it for an official review, etc., in which case I'd understand...

Hi Albert,

Would like to have had it finished by now, but due to various problems last weekend I really need to get another drive and take some decent photos.

All I can add to comments already posted is - AT LAST!

I've despaired for years about the kit industry's complete inability to produce something modern, relevant and just mad-looking enough to attract kit builders who are, let's face it, by definition just a little bit warped / eccentric, without looking like something an engineer designed.

The GTM Libra nearly got there but I think the front end treatment let it down. This car hits the spot from all angles. It'll go fantastically well, and it looks worth twice the price it'll cost to build.

Well done fellas - when my LocoBird is finished and sold I'll be knocking on your door.
