Kylie, thanks, no I really can't wait untill it's properly finished and I can do some race meetings and track days

I like the race boots because they have thin soles, you can feel the pedals alot better, before I bought mine I used to drive in my socks. Another plus point is that they have the sole curved nicely up the back a little way so it helps to pivot about between pedals, very useful for heel and toe, although I'm finding it hard to master in mums corsa

We have both a wide and a standard Westie. Basically if you're 6ft or over go for the wide, it's much bigger. There is a LOT more length in the cockpit. They're around a an inch or so wider per side also.

Our wide car would be ideal for you, tonnes of space, extra high custom made FIA roll bar and wide spaced pedals. The guy that built it made it for his old man who was apparently a big chap. So much so that he'd lowered the floor and I had to drive it with a cushion behind me.

Oh and I can't emphasise enough what a waste of space the standard roll bar is. First priority should be to fit an RAC bar. You only have one head.

One last thing to think about for foot space:

The older chassis for the Type 9 gearbox has a narrower tunnel than the newer one for the MT75 box.

I've got size 12 feet and could drive my SEiW (Type 9 box) wearing ordinary trainers / shoes no problem!

With the roll bar, i would have thought that your head needs to be lower than a line traced from the rollbar to the front chassis rail?

Exactly!!!!!

even then im still not convinced moving at 40 mph upside down in a field (you left the road!) must cause some distortion of the bar towrds the back...it might not crumple completely but there will be some give in it.

I crave what these cars do but safety still beats me, especially in road use.

Those full cages on 7s look the biz...at least to bend back they would also need to bend back the front bit...that is way more than double the strength...

Of course this all depend oon the integrity of the body/chassis they are attached to...god job they dont rust
