Hi all,

I've now got a few bits for my Fury that have been supplied unpainted (eg R1 Engine mounts & steering column) and I'd like to paint them up. Any particular kind of paint required for this sort of job? I'm particularly concerned to get the right kind of paint for things that get hot (do the engine mounts get hot?)

Cheers,

Will

Depends on the material that they're made of Wil.

Steel/ferrous metals can be painted with Hammerite etc. for a good, lasting finish (smooth and hammered finished available).

Ally will have to be etch primed first, then sprayed.

Engine mounts on an R1 shouldn't suffer from excessive heat so Hammerite should be fine.

Beware of using Hammerite on anything that is likely to get peppered by road chipping etc. It dries to such hard finish that it chips very easily.

Will,

You can get a satin finish Hammerite now which is quite nice. The smooth comes out fairly glossy.

Also you might want to do a quick google on POR-15, as it is supposed to be quite good, especially on the exposed bits where Hammerite can chip easily.
