Just arranged my SVA test, no problem - but how do I arrange for an appointment with the VRO??. The automated system when calling the Leeds office is a joke - it's impossible to talk to anyone!!
Do I have to trail all the way over there just to arrange to trail all the way over there again two weeks later?? Any advice from anyone regarding this already tiresome procedure is welcome.

Hi there. I'm in the middle of registering my kit car at the moment.
You have to call the automated phone system and listen to Spandau Ballet for twenty minutes first, then ask for a kit car pack to be sent out.
Sent my paperwork in 4 weeks ago, since when they've sent a bloke out to inspect the car for ten minutes.
NB If your chassis doesn't have the chassis number stamped or etched into it do this before the inspection. Apparently some DVLA local offices insist on this and others don't. This has cost me another two weeks delay waiting for another form to be sent out which the inspector didn't bring with him. It's a long and frustrating process, but stick with it. It'll be worth it. I hope!

Thanks Tiger. I gave up with the auto info system at Leeds because they simply didn't send me the stuff. An email direct to Swansea and the forms were with me in two days - that's more like it. I'm gonna take the forms in in person next week to make sure things get moving!

Got a suggestion... The rear end, particularly where the lights are looks like it would suit the rear lights from a Tigra!!! I'm not keen on the current rears as they give it the "kit car" look. IMHO fitting flush lights would give it a more finished look. And the area where the current lights are looks more/less the same shape...
What do you think?

Yeah, I know what you mean about the lights but changing them would be a job for the GTM mould-maker -there would be just too much to alter. And besides, whats good enough for the McLaren F1 is good enough for me!!
Registration turned out to be a piece of p***. Once I got to speak to someone at Leeds VRO they sent an inspector round to my gaff within a week. Really top bloke who checked everything was in order, then rang me with the reg number when he got back to the office. Tax disk came the day after. A quick trip to Halfords and YK03 MZR was on the road!!

Why-oh-why-oh-why do they have to send some bloody beurocrat round to check the car over (top bloke or not ..... most "NOT" from what I've heard) Could the SVA inspectors not be capable of any 'checks' that are needed?
I tried getting some info from the Portsmouth VRO and got told a whole list of hoops that needed jumping through. Gave Ultima a ring and was told to send the docs to them. 3-days later and all was sorted. They did it over the counter, not car was required for presentation and no inspector called! Job done!
How can there be such differences? An owner has to have the car 'inspected' where as someone in the trade doesn't? Bloody jobs worths making themselves think their important I guess. W**kers!

Your right Paul. All he did was check the chassis and engine numbers. I think they also wanted to check I actually had built the car with new running gear - in the office they seemed a bit suprised that I had applied for a new plate for a kit car.
I was just relieved that I didn't have to take the car to them - as some of the VRO's require you to do. That would have been a trailer hire job as the insurance only covered driving to SVA.
