May I suggest that you set up camp at the near by services for Donnington and do your sale pitch / promotion there.

Its reasonable to consider that a large number of Kit car owners will use the services.

Another option is all the local filling stations.

Just because you can get in, doesn't mean your product can't
Food for thought.

Regards
CH

I’m going to try to keep this brief.

The suggestions that have been put forward have been incredibly helpful and supportive and for that I’m exceedingly thankful.

Problem is that’s it’s too late in the day for me to implement most of them. I only order about 300 or so ‘overs’ of the magazine and the October issue won’t be ready till after Donnington. Bottom line is that I don’t have sufficient quantity in stock to warrant the effort.

I really wish that I’d posted this issue a couple of weeks earlier. However, I’ve noted suggestions for the future.

Again thanks for your understanding of this matter, which I thought would be regarded as the most trivial of all those between the two magazines.

I’d appreciate it if those of you who are interested would push Mr Filby to give account and/or change policy according to Aprisa’s suggestion.

Hi Den,
What if everyone who reads this forum and is going to attend Donnington (as I am) makes a point of asking the staff at the Which Kit Stand why Kit car were prevented from attending and making them aware of the invitation to debate on here?

Can be made as quietly or as forcefully as you wish.

Nick

BTW. I’m interested in windscreen visor stickers, bumper stickers and the like. I also need a fresh supply of carrier bags. Anyone know a good source of supply?

PetrolTed has used:

www.optima.uk.com

for stickers before, and I am about to do the same on his recommendation.

They may come up with a decent quote, depending on spec and quantity.

Dunno about plastic bags but you could ask.

I had another Idea... you could say that anyone that get a photo of their car with your sticker displayed will be entitled to a) a free subscription, b) £10-20 c) somthing else...

That gives insentive for them to use them!!!

Have a good time at Donnington won’t you!

Think of me sitting at home with my feet up, whilst you’re surveying wondrous machines.

I’ll have nothing to do but play with my . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . .keyboard.

Seriously though. The sticker firm hasn’t come back to me with a price. So, anybody else got any other leads? Also, carrier bag maker still wanted.

Thought you might like to know that Ian Hyne, Kit Car’s editor, ignored the edict and went along anyway.

He didn’t get spotted by Fibs until he was on his way out at around 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

There were a few cross words, but no more so than is usual.

Ian is now busy putting together a 3 page report for the November issue of Kit Car.

Did any of you speak to Fibs? I’d be interested to hear of his reaction to members of the public, which I presume must differ compared to his reaction to me and my staff.

Didn't see him, although a bloke wearing a Shelsey kit car polo shirt looked a bit like him. If he didn't have his minders I may have asked for his comments on the furore (no, that isn't a ferrari kit car replica based on an MR2 )

Thanks domster, for nearly speaking to him.

Did anybody make more progress than that?

I had a chat with Nigel Dean, very nice bloke. Gave me a carrier bag to put my brochures in.

Did you touch on any touchy subjects, PeetBee?

Did nobody speak to Fibs himself?

I did have a look around for him...

"What does he look like?" said Mrs Meeja

"Look for a bloke who has never built a car, with a sourpuss face" was the reply

"Like you, you mean?"

Women!!!!

To answer the question, I didn't see him, but I did see Mr Dean.... he was deep in conversation with several people who were admiring the WK built Ultima (Have to say, it did look rather impressive!)

Looks like he got away with it again!

He does it ‘cos he can. Nobody seems to care to even embarrass him! Let alone hit him where it hurts – in his pocket.

Not just in the matter of shows either!

If I care to scream about what I see as the injustice I'm told my cause amounts to a pathetic squabble.

I'm going to bed before my writings become too deep.

Think that was probably Peter Needham, the Shelsley's designer.

As for Filby, every time I passed the WK stand on Sunday he was conspicuous by his absence.

Went to show on Sunday made a point of looking for Mr Filby was most dissapointed couldn't see him any where. Read den's comments in last 2 edition of the most excellent KCM. Was interested to find WK? were saying in october issue new improved edition bigger now 146 pages and no repeats. To be fair couldn't find any repeats. I read both mags to TRY and get a balanced view of the industry

Thanks Andy and others.

It seems that Fib’s can do what he likes.

He avoids his critics direct questions by keeping his profile low. He avoids giving account for himself in writing by refusing to enter dialogue.

Yet it seems clear that all is not well in respect to fairness, justice and truth.

I’d be concerned as to just how balanced a perspective his magazine gives. But I suppose that's because I'm a sad cynic.

Enough!

I'm tiring of the constant sniping. Right or wrong, it's not appropriate content for the forum.
