I'm moving out of London at the end of this month to Northampton, party so I can indulge my car fetish much further.

I still have limited resources and am considering running an old Jetta we've had knoking about at my parents for the last couple of years for mundane use so I can afford something 7 esque. Does anyone here have a banger for midweek use to they can afford their hobby?

Otherwise I'm looking at something like a E30 M3, Fiat Coupe Turbo or Cosworth Merc. They are all very accomplished, good fun cars, but they'd all be a compromise.

I run a old mini as my every day car, only cost £375, although since spent more than that on mods to make it more fun, it means I can keep the miles off the Griff though which is good and saves me a fortune in petrol.

Go for it, why compromise, you can always sell the 7 later if you decide it’s time to change

I run a MkII Golf GTI on a daily basis, bought a 1999 Mondeo Zetec for my wife to cart the little one around and my toy is in the garage - An SSC Stylus Zetec (In the middle of a huge rebuild!)

I'm currently driving a mk2 Golf Driver everyday whilst I rebuild a Dutton Phaeton. So everything is on a budget at the moment!

I'd be tempted to run the Jetta and get a 7 as Paul V said, you can always sell it and go for something different later.

Carlon (750 quid) and a Westfield. When funds allow I'll get a decent car and keep the westfield but the carlton has served me for 10k miles so far and is still going.

Nice one Justin. Drop me an email and we can meet up for a spin and compare oil leaks over a pint
