Well the race is on then who will get theirs on the road first (moving under it's own power)?
I've had the joy of driving mine up and down the drive for a week before sending it off agin to be finished.

So as the Murtaya quote goes, "Won't be long now" wink

Any news on what's happening at the factory? I heard a rumour that AMS might be making a return?

Well, it's not really a rumour, it's something my dad (another kit car nut) mentioned he'd heard on the local news.

There was a none-too-friendly piece about AMS in the most recent Kit Car Magazine.

It'll look dreadful for 99.9% of the time. The only time it will look like that is when you've just spent hours cleaning it.

I speak from experience (sort off). I bought a mountain-bike tandem. I spent a lot of money on a customised Cannondale which had the option of a matt black paint finish. Having seen one in the flesh new, I had to have that colour as it was stunning. It looked absolutely amazing when I first bought it, and then tired and tatty after the first time it got dirty. Fortunately the frame was twisted so it was replaced with a newer paint scheme and thank god it was.

The problem is it shows up the slightest of marks, which immediately catch the light. Given the murtaya is an all weather road rocket, it'll be always dirty.

The (admittedly gloss) competition car that AMS had will give you some idea how that'd look.

Personally I'd go with the old demonstrator's blue or maybe push the boundaries of taste with some TVR-esque reflex paint.

Thanks for the advice. I am at a loss as to which colour to go for. I am not a fan of blue. Ilike blue shirts and sweaters but not on my car so much.

I suppose there is always white.

there are lots of colours to choose from i have a slightly different blue sonic blue off my old p1 rather than demo colour, mark's old car was a dark blue and nik's was ?midnight blue then you have the green cars of geoff and chris,i think white looks very nice but already have a white diesel impreza and really fancied blue-who is doing your paintwork??- in know several cars had issues with paintwork with my bonnet needing to be replaced and repainted!
my car is hopefully getting mapped this week then iva end of feb

The midnight or doom blue isnt bad. The chap painting it is the same guy that painted the Gulf coloured one. (forgot the chaps name). I believe he started priming today.

The engine is still away being assembled. this should be ready end of next week. Steve then needs to install it. Hopefully by then the paint will be done as well. Ever hopeful. lol

Tell me you're not selling your car now, Nick! smile

As for the matte black--I've heard the same thing about it being dirty...along with fingerprints and stains ruining the finish...

Here's the closest I could get to a "matte" black Murtaya (it's really a glossy one in a bad pic on a cloudy day):

Here's a shiny black Murtaya, for comparison:

...I think both look good (ok, for good reason), but I'd just be worried that a matte black paint job might lose its finish after a while for ya...
