Oh rite thought you were using standard lump, for what it's worth I,m using a billet sump with modified pick up from andy bates think was around £500-£600 the guy who does all my mechanical stuff (well experienced in Motorsport) seemed to think it was a must do!!!!!
Oh I didn't know there was a billet sump available for the ZX10R. I know of loads of other ZX10R powered cars running standard sump without issues. I've had a look on AB Performance website and they list a baffle plate for the ZX10R, might be worth a chat to Andy about my options.Any chance of you posting a photo of your sump please?

Ben, I can send you some pics, I have your email address but bear with me as my car is in the workshop at mo ( diff & drive shaft probs) we are messing with the flat shifter as well as we think we can improve on the system, the billet sump is a quality bit of kit very professional bit of machining, out of interest with your oil cooler and turbo set up how many litres of oil to fill your system ?? We use 6 litres to fill ours !!!

Are the other cars forced induction like you though?
No they're all standard(ish) naturally aspirated engines, modified with exhausts, sausage filters and power commanders.Definitely speak to AB about a sump I would say.
The crank is now at Chris Applebee Engineering being checked over, reground and then sent back to me with oversize bearing shells.
I've also ordered a gasket set, set of Carrillo con rods, some bolts/washers, chain tensioner and oil pump.
It takes around 4.5 litres of oil to fill my system.

Photos of the sump or anything you think would be of benefit to me would be brilliant! It takes around 4.5 litres of oil to fill my system.

That *maybe* the issue then, you could be exerting higher forces on the bearings than non forced induction cars.
It's definitely a possibility, i think i'll be seeing how things go and then stripping/inspecting the engine on a yearly basis now, to check for any possible issues.Ben, I,m really a novice to all this but your oil quantity seems real low to me I was using more oil than you before I fitted the oil cooler !!! Speak to andy b mate he is a top guy and knows this stuff inside out as a rule of thumb, we filled up to the top of the sight glass turned the engine over without running it then topped up to top of sight glass again and then added another 200 ml on top cheers daz....

The big difference between our cars is you have a larger volume sump than my standard one, hence needing more oil. I filled the oil cooler first then filled the engine to the top of the sight glass, after running the car the oil level has always been at the top of the sight glass. Standard oil volume is 3.7 litres.Does your sump hang lower than your chassis rails?
Thanks for the info and photos Daz, it looks brilliant.
I butchered the standard sump this afternoon, with the aim of giving it more capacity and also some baffles to stop the oil from moving around during braking/acceleration/cornering.
Here it is, in the early stages of modification
With aluminium plates welded to the sump to make it square shaped it should hold substantially more oil.

After having a decent cup of coffee to wake me up this morning, I began making cardboard templates to transfer onto the 3mm aluminium plate I bought yesterday.
The templates for the sump sides look like this
When rested in position the sump looks like it holds a lot more oil than the standard one
Once all my Mothers Day duties are out of the way, I'll hopefully get time to fire up the TIG set in the garage and get the sump welded up.

I've not done a lot more to the sump today, most of the day was taken up with Mothers Day stuff, but managed an hour to myself and made one aluminium plate and tacked it in place.
I'm glad you've sorted out the niggles on your car I know what you mean about the Flatshifter, it does make the car feel immenseley fast through the gears. How are the downchanges feeling now?

Ben, you have been busy good luck with your mods was out in mine yesterday my mods finished for now, felt very quick indeed flat shifter all sorted and working well !! Keep us posted mate thanks......
Cheers Daz, you lucky git, I would've loved to have been out in mine today, the weathers been great this afternoon, hopefully it'll not be too much longer until I'm back on the road!I'm glad you've sorted out the niggles on your car I know what you mean about the Flatshifter, it does make the car feel immenseley fast through the gears. Cool... you've done the one thing I really can't wait to do, play with the bikes, be good to suprise them now and again, in a straight line and on the twisties!
I've made a bit of progress this afternoon on the sump, it's now looking like this
It's all water tight, as i found when i filled it to see what volume of water it held, it now holds 2.8 litres, which is definitely more than the standard sump, unfortunately i didnt fill the standard sump before cutting it up, would've been nice to know the difference! Doh!
Here's the internal view, it's not baffled yet, as I'm still waiting on an oil pickup being delivered, once I have that in my possession I can make the baffles accordingly.
