The three wheeler that appealed to me many years ago was the Badsey Bullet.

I agree with you and it still looks futuristic to this day and was inspiration for some of my old three wheeler design...Bit more about it here

It would be nice to see a modern update of the same concept..., but this one looks close, or has a similar cockpit layout, the electric the Peugeot EX1, eventhough it has an extra wheel...

Dave,
Have you looked at the French marque Secma? I think they are imported to the UK under the Qpod brand. The Fun Runner is almost a trike - with a full windscreen, heater and wipers. May give you some ideas.
Ta Mike! All ideas gratefully received and will be chewed upon.Have you looked at the French marque Secma? I think they are imported to the UK under the Qpod brand. The Fun Runner is almost a trike - with a full windscreen, heater and wipers. May give you some ideas.

Generally found in quadricycles I have one in the Zest which I import, they are petrol and put out 15kw (21 horse) this is the maximum power for heavy quadricycles in Europe but they could be tuned.
The Zest is very interesting, what sort of mpg does it get and how much do they cost? ceebmoj said:

about 60mpg on a run as with most things it depends on the traffic you are in really but it's a lot cheaper to run than a regular car on short journeys for sure. Sadly though they are not cheap as with most of the micro cars E 11,500 these daysqdos said:

Wonder what a batch would cost straight from Lombardi - engines + CVT that is??dave de roxby said:

I can get some if you are genuinely interested in some. I'll have to find out the prices for the engines and gearboxes on their own if you want to use them. There's a photo of the set up in the Zest on the Qdos Cars website qdos said:

Shame about the price, I was ready to make an impulse purchase. I guess the price is a large reason why they have not taken off in larger numbers.dave de roxby said:

A few years ago I was involved in the design of a Quadricycle and the engines that were considered were the following:For Quadricycle/Microcars engines you can only choose from these three major manufacturers that supply 90% of the market:
Lombardini

Kubota:

Yanmar

I also know that Mitsubishi used to supply engines to Casalini, one of the Italian manufacturer of microcars.

How much would be right for the impulse? We are considering building something else along similar lines.
To be completely honest, I don't know. For me something small, light, basic and 1 + 1 or 2 seats. Would be very interesting. I guess when I looked at the car I was thinking a new one would be around 5K with some asembely required. Having said that I have just looked at the price of a new cheap cars and I would say im just out of touch with new car prices. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/grouptests...
I know that your product has much more caricter but if i'm looking form something cheap to make the commute / town driving barable it has to at least partly stack up against other small stuff.

For those interested on the Liberty Ace Three wheeler( Morgan..) here are some very good images showing the build of the original vehicle and spot some of the differences with the new Morgan.

Some interesting pictures of the design, with a sketch and two cad images
Twin rear rear dampers? Why?And I don't think much to the wishbone mounting positions on the front dampers - big bending load on wishbone.
Meh... not exactly the last word in lightweight engineering purity, is it?

Probably because with a single rear damper the top mount would need to be much higher and would need the chassis adjacent to the roll bars significantly changing to provide a suitably braced mounting or the swing arm would need to be longer accomodate a single shock thus changing the wheelbase.I suppose a single offset monoshock and spring could have been used but that would mean a stiffer swingarm design along with stiffer swingarm mounts to counter the twist. The twin shock solution keeps it relatively simple.
