Try Adrian Venn at Exactly TVR or Steve Reid at Classic TVR.

Mine went several years ago, couldn't easily get a replacement then! Its not an MOT failure so I just lived with it, if you are really bother you could wire a switch up to them.

Mine went last year, I bought a 'modern day' switch (designed to screw into a gearbox) and mounted it to the existing bracket with a suitable nut & washer. It's still working fine and does not seem to be suffering from the fact that it's designed to be 'in the box' as opposed to externally mounted.

I still have the make / part number somewhere, fairly sure it cost me no more than a tenner - if you're still looking then let me know and I'll fish out the info for you.

Steve..for you to have an externally mounted switch you must have the J type overdrive gear box, not the 4 speed that is being enquired about ....but post the details as I'm sure the information will be of intrest to someone P.S. in 24 years I have only seen 5 overdrive cars, which means that there must be at least 15 as the 10 Martin specials were spec'd with overdrives

Adrian,
Yes, my 1976 3000M has overdrive on 3rd and 4th - fitted when car was new. Must admit I thought the gearboxes were the same, I'm no expert!!
I know the overdrive was an expensive option but thought it was fairly common(?), friend of mine has a Taimar (next chassis number to mine) and that has overdrive too.
Regards,
Steve

AH... 1976... was the era of the overdrive combined with the TR6 diff...... when they are both in good condition, and not leaking, AND you are not trying to put BHP and grip down to the road with decent tyres it's a great combination.

I think I have a spare switch in the garage somewhere. I shall have a look tonight and get back to you.

My 3000M is fitted with the overdrive, and your desciption of the switch is very similar to that fitted to my car, I ma fairly sure that if I can find the spare it will do the job for you.
