cooling system & brake fluid change.

I'm planning on replacing / renewing the brake fluid and coolant on my 1977 Taimar in the near furute - is there anything I should know and/or lookout for before I start?
(Brakes are a bit spongy, and the temperature guage is all over the place - the car hasn't been very well looked after by previous owners so it wouldn't surprise me if the coolant and brake fluid are original).

If it hasn't been looked after very well I would think about checking for any master and brake cylinder leaks before changing the fluid. Also give the cooling system a good flush out. It may also be worth while checking the arth on the voltage stabiliser behind the dash as this can cause problems on the temp guage.

Make sure you flush the brake fluid rather than drain and refill. Which may seem too obvious to be worth saying, but you wouldn't be the first!

The 77 Taimar might have the earlier type system (if your car has the 3" dia. master cylinder with the 5 way valve... PWDA)
If it has a PDWA...( Pressure differential warning actuator) and if this has moved internally the warning light will stay on until the opposing sides pressure has been vented to ensure that the lamp goes out.
