Hi Andrew, I might take you up on it as I am now going back along the route of a more taimar looking front. Just difficult to get it back up to Cambs without spending £50 on carriage. Leave it with me and I will see if something can be sorted, it will certainly be helpful on the reconstruction. Thanks, Phil.
No problem I head away on the LBL Thursday for 12 days but it is at Phil Woods in Southend so just give him a ring you may even cut it down there so it fits in the car I suspect he wants it out of the way so it will go to the dump if it hangs around to long.Andrew
This is my plan for the front end. The bonnet top section will hinge and be remove able. The lights and front spoiler will be fixed. This over comes the bonnet angle limitations when the nose hits the ground. It also allows the fitment of various lower front end panels, I.e. road or track version.
Phil.
I was thinking along a similar line, with regard to the two-part hood, but decided that the additional weight would take the project in an undesirable direction. Now, I'm thinking of doing a single, light weight piece, that detaches from four anchorage points, and lifts off completely. I do agree, that having the versatility of being able to change to a lower splitter, for track use, would be a benefit, but decided that there are other ways of improving the aerodynamics of the front end.
Glad to see you're providing radiator heat exhaust. That should make a big difference. There's an excellent thread, on another forum I frequent, discussing how best to detail this.
Best,
B.

Had a bit of time to spend on my project, collected the damaged bonnet (many thanks Andrew)
T-cut out the damage ! Sliced and diced it, temporarily put in some repair sections to get a better feel to how it will look (no I wont be keeping the stripe effect)
Collected the new Griff Roll Hoop from Ian @ Sportmotive to fit before bonding the two tub sections together again (thats another story)
Found the bodyshell is not symetrical and didnt want to sit well, so i have dropped some datum lines down and this will help ensure the tub is sitting equally to all four wheels before being bonded to the floor.

Impressive body work. I have a project in front of me, one then beeing that the cabin, bonnet and frame all seems to be un centered, so when the bonnet sit right on the cabin is the centerline of the bonnet and center line of the chassis 1/2" of line... equal one front is 1" more out that the other. Problem seems to be the front wings not beeing symetrical... hand made Sh** :-)
Yes, I have found the front wings (behind the front wheels) are offset from centre, the left hand one is further in to the car and even seems to curve inward towards the front to. So I will centre bonnet and doors to the wheel base and build up the wings to suit, they need to be brought out by 70mm per side to match my widened bonnet any how.
All good fun.
All good fun.
