I'm looking to buy an S3, however when talking it through with my old man he recalled that he used to drive a TVR Grantura when he was my age (26) and thought it was quite amusing that i should choose a TVR at about the same age!

I saw on the internet a while a go a database where you could track back Granturas to see if they are still around. Stupidly i didn't bookmark it or anything.

Does anyone know where this can be found? I'd love to find his old car and see if i can arrange for him to meet it's current owner, perhaps a photo shoot with me in my S3 and him next to his old Grantura, A rights of passage sort of thing!

If anyone can help, we have some old photos which have the reg number on. He believes that if it lasted for 10 years after he sold it then it will still be around today.

Thanks

Simon

That's a good starting point, but as the nature of the site suggests, it lists those cars of which the whereabouts are known and depends upon owners themselves knowing the register is there ! In the good ol' pre-data protection days, the TVR Car Club regularly published "Model Register" updates, and armed with that and 9 years of ownership of my own MkII (7/B/252, still out there and being loved) I compiled a database by Chassis number which was accurate up to when I sold my Grantura a year or so back. So long-lost cars are probably on there, together with their last known owners, but from there on it's down to you. + give Richard Sails at the TVR Car Club a call, he is the model registrar so has access to the clubs records which have been built up over the years. he is a PH'er (have a browse through the TVR general section, I think his PH name is the same as his real name), or get in touch through the club.
