I have my Vixen S3 for 6 years now and I noticed today that the rear wheel arche on the drivers side is wider than on the passenger side.
Was the body mould for the S3 maybe made by Stevie Wonder?

tried to email you back about this, but it kept bouncing back!

The body mould warped in the late 60's, but they didn't let that stop them making more - hence vixens which have had a rear-end crash (and hence been repaired by a responsible body shop, who check everything is square before giving it back), are easily identifiable by their symmetrical rear-ends!

Similarly, the chassis of sunbeam alpines is 5/8" longer on the driver's side - restorers try to cut it back to square but discover that the body panels won't fit (the fatory knew that the chassis jig was worn, and simply made slightly larger panels to accommodate it rather that building a whole new chassis jig)

I never thought i would be so relived to find that my car should be bent??

looked at the rear end of my series 1 Vixen today and the rear right hand side when viewed from the rear seems to be dropped by about 1" when compared to the rear left hand side. are a lot of cars like this? On stripping the car down there was a dent in the fuel tank indicating a past shunt to the rear left hand side. maybe the left is higher than the right? either way something is pissed and it aint just the x-mas sherry.

Any other owners of vixens got similar stories to share.

Neil.

Hallo Vixen,
Stevie Wonder ??? No !! He never drove Vixens !!!
Jule de Korte (Julian Shorty) drove Vixens incl. yours !! He smashed up your car in the mid '70's and did the repair himself !!! Do I have to say more ???
Anyway !! There are a few "ex de Korte" cars around with a-symetrical rear ends and yours is the worst !!
Unbelievable !! I saw you driving around last week here in Blackpool on the Rijn and I noticed that the right rear side was hanging above the pavement !!!
You probably didn't notice, but you smashed two busshelters !
All the best for 2005

Thats right, "Little Willy" was his nickname. I remember a newspaperarticle in the '80's which mentioned that he was taken off the motorway because he was doing 160 mls/hour smashing his white stick on the crashbarrier. Fantastic bloke !!!

Yeah really great guy. His dog was always on the
passenger seat in the car and was barking when he had to turn left or right. I seem to remember that his dog also changed gear for him. The time you mention
was when his dog was sick at home and little Willy had to go to a performance of" The Rufters" so he used his stick to get there.

My mom lives in Blackpool on the rijn, on x-mas eve she walked her little dog when a red classic sportscar drove by. Today I helped her burying the remains: The leash and what is left of the collar.

Vixen: can you please check your rear end for any thing that looks likes it used to be some kind of animal? My mom really wants that dogtag to finish the altar above the fireplace.
