True Beauty CLM99H

Just to resurrect this thread as I've just purchased CLM99H!!
I've owned TVR's for the past 12 years (Chimera and Cerbera) and love the cars, their styling and performance.
I drove it from Str8six to Arundel yesterday afternoon (with the old gearbox and a box of miscellanous original spare parts on the passenger seat), which was a brilliant experience, as it's running in I'm keeping the revs below 4k.
TVR Car Club are also sending some info and history.
For the short term I just want to drive the car, get any teething troubles sorted and will then "track it" at a few events next year.
I may race it, but it will need a couple of sets of new wheels (just noticed that J A Pearce are now back in business), new role cage and I'm sure some other "bits n bobs".
I plan to leave the body and interior exactly as is, it has so much history, the smell is 'old time' and I love the rough nature of the outside and immaculate condition of all the running gear.
Any help, advice, thoughts and recommendations will be gratefully appreciated.
Best and thanks in advance.

Well done that man. I was confused over what the new owner would use if for, seems like you plan to do a bit of everything and keep it looking as it was. I've owned TVR's for the past 12 years (Chimera and Cerbera) and love the cars, their styling and performance.

Thanks for all your notes, I'll keep you posted via this topic group.
As the cars been rebuilt I am expecting there to be a few 'teething' issues and have a greed with Jason (S6) that it'll go back in for a thorough check over and service in the autumn. There are a couple of areas already that will need to be investigated.
So yes to any local meets (keep me posted), I've been to a couple of the West Sussex monthly meetings, sadly I can't make tomorrows and we have my 2 sons coming down for a family event, but will try to get the car out as much as possible.
I'll also check out the Goodwood Breakfast Club meetings for anything applicable.
Best and thanks

Congrats on the purchase. I noticed that you said that you might be looking for some wheels, if thats the case I might be in a position to help.I also have a set of the original J A Pearce Alloys I'm looking to sell on. They were originally on my car Tuscan UPY777J when it was first raced. In fact I'm looking to get rid of all sets of wheels that I have.

Quite a selection there? Issue with the older JAP wheels is that they are magnesium and due to the age possibility of cracking/hairline cracks, so your JAP wheels will be the same as mine, OK for the odd track day but I've been advised not to race on them?
What else do you have and what sizes?
Contact me directly if you wish?
Best and thanks

Duncan,
I'm researching TVR Grantura race history but have picked up a few details on the later cars. Were you supplied with a full race history. So far I have some very brief details for Dr Rod Longton's Tuscan V6.
BARC Sprint Thruxton No 89 8th August 1971 Class 14 over 2,000cc
BARC Race Meeting Thruxton No41 25th March 1973 Event 1 Blue Circle Race A Mod Sports 10 laps 23.56 miles. Ed Stephens and John Kierswill also entered Tuscan's in event 1. Chris White and Brian Hough V8 Tuscan's entered event 5.
If you have any more race details can you please let me know so I can update my records.
Thank you

You should be able to find a machinist's shop, who are able to do crack detection on magnesium wheels. What else do you have and what sizes?
Contact me directly if you wish?

Best regards,
Bernard.
P.S. Edited to add: Even cracks aren't so bad. A friend of mine has a weld repaired mag Halibrand rear, from a 427 Cobra.

Dunc. What's going on - are you selling already or is this a scam ad?
