Hi Guys,
Well the time is upon me due to personal circumstance that my pride and joy has to go and would value your advice on her for the last time (for the time being anyway) in relation to pricing.
details:-

1972 1600M
Found in boxes and fully restored 2 years ago
engine fully re-conned 2000 miles done since
weber 40
bosch electronic ignition
new fuel tank
full re wire
full interior re trim in black
4 new tyres
12 month MOT
tax exempt - 12 month disc on
starts on the button even when cold
runs great with no overheating
never ever let me down
chrome bumpers
exceptional paint work
rolling road report
independent report
lots of paperwork
lots of restoration carried out by specialist sports car restoration company - report and photos available.

I love this car dearly but my hand has been forced.

Pic available on my profile.

Thanks in advance for pricing suggestions.

Harry

I have no choice old pal, I will return to the fold at some point though once my forced visit to the cleaners is over.

Absolutely. It's a lovely car but IMHO anything over £3K would be a bonus. Are you sure that it has to go?

Price ? It's all a matter of how desperate you are really.

Need cash today. I'll give you £1.5k and I'll sign a contract saying if I sell it in the next 5 years you can have 1st refusal with a max of £6k.

Not desperate at all ? Hold out for what it's worth and MORE.

Unless you get lucky !

I'd :
1) Put it on Ebay with £10K reserve
2) Put a link on everysingle car related website you can find (cavweb? mk2cav.com, migweb, mr2owners, cheshirecruze)
3) Find another way of raising cash !!!

Not exactly desperate lads and am gutted to be letting go but need to settle my divorce which leaves me without any money and without a nice warm garage to keep / work on the M.

Thought about the e bay route but didn't want to get lumbered with dreamers who just bid for fun and I know it is a cliche but wanted someone to own it who would appreciate what has gone into it and keep it that way. The previous owner was a complete idiot who stripped it and tried to rebuild as modern as possible complete with funky bright blue interior, I however took it to as close as original as you will get. So come on guys if I were to place it in the classifieds where should I pitch it ??

Cheers

Hello Harry

its a sad fact, but 1600M's are probably the least sought after cars in the TVR Range. If it was a grantura or Vixen then £6k would be the mark.

Realistically though as much as I think they are great cars you will be lucky to get anything over £3500.

They are a very underated car at present and will rise in the future, their time has not come yet. You only have to look at the classics section of pistonheads classifieds to see people struggling to get 3000m's sold, let alone a 1600M.

My advice to you would be to find £3k by some other means and hang on to it.

I am sure if storage is a worry then one of the NE TVR club lads could help out. Tony Abrams at HHC would probably offer cheap storage and may be interested in selling it for you for a brokerage fee. give him a call.

She's taken the House harry, don't let her have the cars as well??

Neil.

Hi Graham

Got to agree with heightswitch on the price and on trying to keep it.
If you can raise the money instead of selling why not get photocopies done asking if anyone has a garage spare that they would be willing to rent to you.
Post them through doors in the local area, you'd be suprised how well this can work.

Wishing you well mate.
