Vixen fuel tank required?

After putting up with the smell of fuel in the cabin I investigated the cause.

The tank is leaking!

Thoughts on repair or replacement?

Long shot. Has anyone got one kicking around?

They had an alloy M/Taimar one (same as Vixen?) at Burghley today, think it was about £500 + another £50 ish for gauge sender unit.

I've just picked up and fitted the David Geralds tank this week. It's larger than my old steel tank in diameter, same length and fittings all the same, bar I had earth points on steel tank and a blanked off centre pipe.

My old tank is bruised and battered but does not leak. I bought a repair kit from Frost Paints, which I still have, un open. It's a hardcore cleaner, metal prep and then sealant.

I had planned on using the old tank but it's baffled and somewhere between the two baffles metal is loose. No idea what it is as I can't see it or get it out!

I used a kit like the one from Frosts on the petrol tank of my 3000S. Fantastic result and no crap from the tank blocking the filter.

A guy near Wigan made me a replacement tank for my S2 (after a disasterous result with tank sealer!).
Very reasonable price. I will be needing a replacement tank for my Vixen project soon so maybe there is a deal to be done?.

Adrian Venn is in the process of having tooling made to make Vixen fuel tanks in tinned steel. I know this because I have loaned him a spare tank as a pattern. Hoping this puts me at the front of the queue when "production" starts.

Sorry for the delay.
The guy will make a copy of the existing tank in alloy for £350.
Does anyone know of anyone else who can make one?

Mine was leaking at the scene but otherwise was in fair condition.

In the end, I had it repaired by Guildford Radiators. They also welded and fitted a breather outlet on the tank as it didn't have one fitted and there was always a vacuum when you opened the fuel cap.

Cost, £100 plus VAT and they cleaned and repainted the tank included!

I would advise you to seal the inside of the tank with special resin and fit a cleanable glass filter at tank outlet
