...my hub won't budge.....:-(
When you guys say a gentle tap.......what.....exactly does that entail....in reality please?
Soaked it in WD40...... Tried heat, but by torch isn't really man enough for that scale of component....
I've tickled it with a few hammer types.....nowt...nothing...nil movement to date....

You have disconnected it from the diff and driveshaft first though haven't you When you guys say a gentle tap.......what.....exactly does that entail....in reality please?

Stop being a fanny and give it a clout. They were a slight interference fit into the upright register.
You can also lock 2 nuts together and remove the location studs since you may have some corrosion keeping the hub in place..beware though when you do this you can strip the alloy requiring everything to be helicoiled..

There really shouldn’t be anything holding the hub or back plate on once the nuts are off the studs, unless of course someone has fitted some additional fixings, check them over closely you don’t want to break anything because of a hidden screw.
Also if someone has applied liberal quantities of thread lock on the studs and over the backplate that might cause problems?

If you use an old woodworking chisel or screwdriver you will damage the flange.
Fox Wedges have a small angle to slide in and not damage.
There should not be any loctite on the threads because they are nyloc nuts.
When you slide the two parts together in the spline make sure the two uj's are in phase.

So Adrian does exchange units then?!! That sounds a fabulous idea. I'll get in touch and see.
Otherwise, is it that difficult pressing out old and in new bearings and getting the right pre-load on the squash tube?
I haven't stripped it, seen an exploded assembly view or read any 'how to guide (if one exists...)' yet, but is it not tightening torque that dictates the preload in this case?
Which bearings are recommended? There are so many cheap, useless alternatives on the market these days.....you pays what you get for....

I think the tricky bit is getting the hub flange off without distorting it.
Bearing end float needs measuring with a dial gauge as the spacer tube crushes.
I think Adrian has mentioned in the past having a purpose made puller to get that flange off? I used a pair of "home made" support plates and a hydraulic press.
You'll also need two big spanners for the locknuts.
Google or YouTube Triumph TR6 rear wheel bearings
I have no idea what Adrian charges for a pair of exchange hubs, or what your budget is but I can vouch for the quality of these all new improved design hubs......... New rear hubs for M
