I'm not leaving the car supported on its outriggers that's for sure.
On a side note a Freelanders doors won't shut if opposite diagonal wheels are off the ground. And that's a fact.
The outriggers are triangulated to the top inner chassis rails of the chassis near to where the suspension pick up points are. In addition the body is bolted down at 4 points further spreading the load and transmitting it in a place near enough the same as the suspension pick ups.

Lets consider a jacking fixture which spreads the load on the bottom rails of the chassis..Have you considered that the straight section of tube joining front and rear sub assemblies will then have a point load applied for which it wasn't designed... Now granted if you are using the chassis Corners and the spine tubes and they are taking the load at exactly the same time during jacking it certainly isn't going to harm anything.. But it isn't necessary either..As Andrew says if you have fears over the condition of the chassis in this area then you have far bigger issues to worry about.

I thought it was only me that had cars which needed supported long term anyhow hehe

Chassis on all cars excellent, and no you aren't the only one Neil!

I don't care if tomorrow's Monday, I'm not bloody leaving mine jacked up on the outriggers for any longer than a period of the least length!

Also the distance from outrigger to point of most weight (i.e. Engine) increases the turning moments considerably beyond the mere support of the weight itself.
