Handbrake cable route from chassis mouting to hubs

Happy new year everyone!

Putting the rear end back together and trying to route in the handbrake cable to the alloy uprights. The near side goes in pretty well but the offside does not. The mounting point on the chassis is off centre making one of the cables a very tight fit.
Has anyone any pictures showing the correct route or can advise me on this? Its been a while since I took it all apart.

2 cables run from the swivel block to 2 eyelet outer cable retainers which are on your lower centre tube just ahead of the diff pinion flange. They then curve in an arc to the handbrake cable bracket on the upright.

As you can see the near side fits pretty well.

But the off side is tighter. The cable is just about touching the prop shaft. It's too short to go round the diff brackets. It must fit there somehow.

Not sure what you mean. They are already slotted into an original welded bracket. There is no where else to mount it.....

Are your cables the same size each side ?

Yes, they are the same length, that's the main problem. The OSR could do with being about 4inches shorter. Not sure what to do but thanks for all your help.

Hi no problem we all try to help each other will it not route better the opposite side of the support bar or is it to close to the drive shaft then

Just a thought are you fitting a Triumph cable, did TVR have them modified (shortened) ?

As I mentioned before on your own picture your cable is crunched up against the chassis support bar, on mine and the other Picts it runs behind the bar giving it a better angle to the cable keep , have you tried routeing it behind the bar ?

Just tried it and it's still a difficult fit. Going to measure the right length and get some new ones made up.

Thanks Bernard, and those were taken when I first took the body off (albeit for the fourth time), this is the new arrangement with rear discs and new handbrake cable route.

I see you're saving a lot of weight, on zip ties.

I have to confess Bernard, when the fuel and brake lines were installed the zip ties returned!
