Essex v6 cam shaft wont withdraw!

Trying to withdraw camshaft from front of engine in my 3000m, engine is still in car.
Heads off, tappets out, gingerly turning and pulling out , refuses to come out more than 3 lobes, any ideas or advice welcome.

Eric,
to remove the Camshaft with Engine Essex V6 in place what do you need to remove on the Engine.
Do you need to remove the Cylinder heads or just the Inlet Manifold to get at the Cam Followers.
On a Kent 1600 i used Magnets to hold the Cam Followers in the high position to be able to slide the Camshaft out+ remove Dizzy + remove Fuel pump.

I must say i would prefer a standard Camshaft in my 3000S than the Burton Kent VA19.
