Just in case anyone on here hasn't seen this and is looking for a Grantura, this looks nice.

It's got a Climax engine as well. Reckon there could be a lot of bidders, especially based on the estimate.

So it sold for £18k.add to that restoration costs of £25k+ if your doing the bulk yourself.I know the Coventry Climax engine and history will have helped to hype the price but it does make my fully restored Grantura seem a bargain.So in 12 weeks of marketing plenty of enquiries but not one tyre kicker has viewed.The classic car market has definitely softened and we are in strange times.BREXIT gets blamed for everything,I don’t buy that.

Barn find / full resto projects often sell quickly and for much more than they're worth on paper. Road going examples often are the better buys but don't sell quickly.
There are a lot of dreamers ready to hand over relatively large bundles of cash with massive enthusiasm and the best intentions of doing a project build. Lack of time and knowledge together a realisation of the work involved and the further large bundles of cash required means many cars then sit around in garages, sheds & barns until they're sold on again to another enthusiastic, well intentioned dreamer.
Only a small percentage of project cars end up reaching completion and becoming a road going example. I would hazard a guess that there are at least two classic TVR projects waiting in garages for every one on the road.
In answer to your question :
Option 1 : sit on it until it starts to rot away and needs a rebuild. Then sell it as a barn find.
Option 2 : just use it and enjoy driving, owning and looking at a fantastic car
Option 3 : reduce the asking price until potential buyers start showing interest
Option 4 : as is but just accept it may take a while to find a buyer at the true worth of the car
Sorry that's not much help but it felt good to share the non-sense of classic TVR values

Thanks for prompt replies and Motos suggestions.The only reason I,m selling is because I bought a Type 14 project thinking the Grantura would sell quickly,I can’t sit on it as funds and space are needed for the Lotus.I have reduced the suggested sale price by £5k so I guess another similar dive may be needed.Where do you stop?I would put the Granny into auction myself if it was a barn find,but I absolutely cringe at the way people crawl over immaculate cars at these auctions.It just goes against the grain.

No critism as you have a valid reason for the sale (I would also like an Elite), but It's a shame you have not used the car, if you came to a few pre 80's TVR meetings you may find an interested buyer. Another option is to advertise on say racecarsdirect. Whilst it will need converting to race specs it would be a relatively cheap way to enter Pre 63 GT events. It is certainly must less cost than an Elite or Healey. There are quite a few Grantura 2 & 3s competing in Europe - France, Belgium, Italy and Germany.
I have found a few owners of M series cars are now looking at Granturas such the buyer of the Climax car above.

Thanks Rob and all others for taking the time to reply.All points and suggestions are noted.Lots to think about.Not the best time of the year to sell a Classic,if it wasn’t for the Elite lurking in the wings I would be enjoying the Granny.

The Climax Grantura was purchased by me. It will definitely see the road again and soon. I have previously fully restored a 3000m and owned a Taimar Turbo SE so i know what it takes to put a classic TVR back on the road. I also own some very special Faithorpes. Now i have examined the car and have its fully documented history i am very happy with the price paid.
Sorry but, I think you are giving the wrong impression...both the 3000M and the Turbo have subsequently needed body off rebuilds, and you personally did not recommission the Turbo. A@Edited by Adrian@ on Tuesday 24th December 16:04

Hello Adrian, nice to hear from you again after so many years. I think you must have forgotten the full body off rebuild i did on 3000M JFW7T before it was rear ended and written off. You certainly did a lot of business selling parts for it for the rebuild i did. It was subsequently sold as salvage by the insurance company and badly repaired before having a full body off again and now is a really nice car from the pictures i have seen.Edited by Adrian@ on Tuesday 24th December 16:04
I never stated i rebuilt Taimar Turbo SE BLF112S as i never did, but i certainly owned it for a number of years. It was bought after The 3000M was written off. I am sure you will remember inspecting it before purchase.
