The new Mercedes function to adjust front wheel toe by pushing / pulling the steering column is clearly a copy of the Vixen setup where toe changes in line with up and down movement in the steering column.

OK they've fine tuned it a bit but it clearly shows TVR were 50 years ahead of the game in terms of motor sport technology. laugh

My technology is more side to side.
Not sure if it pre or post dates the up and down version.

Controversial to purists, am sure, but thinking of backdating the technology to where the steering wheel is not involved at all in what the toe is doing.
A Luddite am I.

On the F1 front - why have a steering wheel at all?
It can all be done with a joystick more similar to computer games.
Just a few more dozen sensors and won't need the driver either.

I recollect SAAB tried the joystick idea many years ago. Hopefully someone will post a picture or correct my if my mind is playing tricks hehe

Yep, Saab did it with a 9000 around 1990 or so. A technology transfer from their aircraft division that didn´t appeal so much to pilots of ground bound objects...
