The first place is the sills, beware stailess cover sills, feel along the inside off the sill through the carpet, check the castle section that runs under the sill. The sill ends are hidden behind the back wing and frint wing so check around the wheel arches. mechanicals are all easy to fix and get hold of spares.

beware the shiny MGB with rotten undersides - MGB owners have a reputation for it.

Why not an M series/Vixen/Grantura, BTW?

Haynes (as in Haynes Manuals) do a really good book on the MGB and what to look out for. The MG Owners Club and MG Car Club can also give you some top info.

I totally agree, one of the most boring cars I have ever driven, (Morris Marina engine, no power, rust, horrible drive, and on and on) try a 3000M or Taimar, much more fun and you do not end up as one of the crowd. (Taimar only 394 built).

I've had two. I bought them when funds were in short supply (just bought first house/made redundant). Absolutely gutless performance and handled like jelly on a stick (especially the rubber bumper version). Quite pretty, but this is a car designed in the early 60s using the technology of the late 40s by a company renowned for it's conservatism.
Be prepared to be overtaken by milk floats
And they rust like there is no tomorrow.
As someone has said, buy a 70s TVR for the same money.
It's far better VFM.
A Lotus Excel SE is a far better car for the same sort of money too.

Paul.
