Blacks not kind to GRP cars in general. Good project though.

This car was an 'unknown' one, so thanks to the seller it is now on the register.

So how many have you got now? I seem to remember that about 50-odd survived. However I bet a good 30% of those are V8’s now.

Still a work in progress! It’s not easy to match up foreign plates to former uk ones though, and a leading question is what exactly is ‘survived’? I have decided that survivors are taxed or have established recent use (ie racing) and/or photos.

Incidentally yours was electric blue gone dark blue is that correct?

Yes, and was black in between the two blues.

By the way, how did you know it was electric blue originally? It was black when I bought it so I know of no photos of it in that colour.

Does it matter what the seller makes if the buyer gets a good deal ? This is a Tuscan after all, and the chassis is probably salvageable.

Buyer may not be getting a good deal here though Al ? ...This car is an absolute black hole of expense as far as i can see.

There seem to be lots of folk trading on ebay these days who add no value..... !!

I see a story with this car, Most likely an old boy, not connected to the internet, not too tech savvy and most likely he was quite happy with his 5k or so he sold the car for... One trailer ride and a bucket of soap and water later I suspect the reserve price will be of the order of 13-15k.... Some out there will no doubt start to talk about the market forces of supply and demand.. in my view however someone will have been undersold and someone else will overpay... then in about 5 years time that person who has overpaid and used up 5 years of his life will be told that his car is not worth £50k.... But the soap and bucket man earned a 10k mark up for a day out with his car trailer...

Like I said.. it seems in the world these days it doesn't pay to add value!! just buy any stter you can find and add a couple of grand on... someone will always pay!!

But the fact remains, why does it matter what the seller bought it for? Apart from envy I can’t see it’s relevant as it’s now it will realise its value. I’m sure you’re right about how it ended up on eBay but that’s history
If that same old chap had sold it to you for £5k I doubt you’d be happy to sell it just for that plus your petrol getting it !
You’ve also just denigrated every jeweller in the country and I must say I agree with you there but it’s a different market.

It’s not a million miles from me but I’ve got no space left.

Mine was electric blue and then resprayed black - so that’s 2% of the whole production run!!

It’s quite surprising how many cars have been resprayed, sometimes several times.

It was certainly a thing back in the day!

Why is it surprising.. These cars are 50 years old.. most of them are on their 2nd and 3rd restoration!!

Because it applies to many cars that have have never been restored, some of which haven’t been on the road in 40 odd years after having had two resprays !
