Well, I was thinking £6-7k for a good but not perfect car. If I can find a local mechanic plus a specialist, I should be OK.
I must admit my head says look at an S partly because there is a bigger user base. This is the trouble with the Alpine, the flip side of the rare car factor. But the heart says Vixen, it's a car I can see myself owning a long time and bringing up to it's best.
My local dealer has a 1978 Taimar - it's just under £5,000. There's a nice pic of the Taimar which won 1st prize at BNG, on TVRCC website.

Also, Hexham Horseless Carriages have an interesting car - 300S, which was built for Martin Lilley. It's a bit more though, £8,000.
Several people have said to me, there will be a car out there with your name on it, you just have to be patient!! Put Vixen into your Ebay wish list and sit back and hope!
Hi Mike ( Hobson)
I live in Bristol ( Long Ashton) and recently purchased a 1970 Tuscan V6 ( unrestored, un molested and very original i.e. needs a little love)
Youre welcome to come and have a look if it helps with the process.
I took a 2 hour drive through the cotswolds on Sat and it was awesome!!

First post here, I owned a Vixen S3 for 24 years and although there are jobs that need a garage (rear wheel
bearings)most work is basic, and can be done by any
garage,or competant home mechanic, vertical links need to be kept greased in the trunnion area as they
have been known to rust and break, resulting in the
wheel comming off, if the body has never been off then the tops of the chassis outriggers will be rotten, body is held on by eight bolts by the way.
After owning the car for a short while I converted it to V8,using the Rover SD1 engine, Rover Gearbox,
Jaguar Salisbury Diff, the chassis had to be modified
of course to take the heavy diff, (ie tuscan)with delta wing plate on the top, when strengthened and
completed the diff has to be removed through the back window, not underneath, had to make new steering shafts as the engine was then in the way of the column. took three years to convert the car altogether, enjoyed it for 11 years after, and sold
the car 6 months ago. the engine choice by the way
was purely because of it`s lightness, rather than the
heavyweight American lumps, which I thought may bring
on a forward/rear weight imbalance.
