Hi all - I have also shared this to the Facebook group but hopefully someone somewhere can assist.

It all started with a dodgy earth on the front indicator which is sorted so I thought I would have a tinker and try and fix any other minor issues, one being the ignition light which was no longer coming on. So I took it all apart, cleaned up the connectors and put back together.
Now the ignition light is on all the time when the car is running but weirdly it will switch off when I switch on the rear demist.
To add the rear demist light does not come on or off at all now.

Sounds like a bit of a dodgy connection somewhere and I have switched the connectors around and no change.
When I unplug the fuse for the ignition the radiator fans kick in!

I have bought a multimeter which arrives tomorrow but any hints will be appreciated and I will keep you all informed!

Thanks!

Ah! The joys of TVR electrics, my Vixen temperature guage goes up when the lights are on, it's all down to chasing bad earths, good luck!

+1 on the earth connections.

Best advice I can give is to have as few earth points as practical in the harness and keep them clean and corrosion free.

At least that way you can de-bug genuine wiring issues rather than the unpredictable behaviour a grounding issue can give.

A big thank you to everyone for your help - it was an earthing issue and also general dirty connections.

I have spent a lot of time going through as much as I can cleaning everything up as after 24 years since it was restored, things have got a bit grimey.

The knurled nut connectors on the back of the gauges tend to be a hot spot, they come loose causing earth problems and if any wires have the ‘horse shoe’ type end termination they can fall off completely.

It's only fun if you fix it
