These parts cars now back up for sale on eBay. The poor seller appears to have lost the v5 since he/she bought the car a few months back…how unfortunate wink

Apparently not. V5C is shown in the pics
Maybe he noted your scepticism and added the pics.

Whoever said this is a 25k restoration is probably a little short, but this is eminently doable with a tolerant spouse

It wasn't there when I view the auction originally, but pleased to see it there now and they're doing the right thing.

I think there are quite a few parts now not included this time.

The original listing 'sold' for £4800 in July, but not showing as sold items in eBay history (?). Is this the same seller? The original listing has gone.

Ebay normally has a 3-month rolling cut-off for the sold items lists, so it will have dropped out about a week ago.

New listing with 1 bid so far and 5 days to go : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335062731726

Thought those who were interested in this project 1st and 2nd times around may like to know that it has now come into my hands and I am about to embark on a long (and probably costly) full restoration. The previous pictures do it justice, it is far worse than even those predict so Im guessing any delaying factors will be parts sourcing. As a serial restorer this is by far the worst car I've attempted but I was looking for a challenge

Good for you, Ron. Will you be going for original spec or restomod with some up to date parts?

there is also one on kleinanzeigen.de, compleet so they say but in parts in a container, price lowered to 14.8k euro, cheap but a lot of mechanic work for the person with some spare room and waiting for a project :-) comes with 3 engines..

TVR MK2 Grantura 1961 rot komplett

it says (translated)

>Dream find in a sea container.
Racing car from 1961! Alternative to the Porsche 911!!
A TVR, Grantura complete!! With 3 engines!
(A dream for every racing driver! Maybe he'll have to go back to England!)
English papers available.

More information to follow. If you're seriously interested, you can also call me!

The previous owner invested €25,000 in this project over the years. Many parts are available in multiples and have already been to various specialist companies for optimization ;-)<

I want to keep close to the original spec or as close to as possible with a few minor changes such as rack and pinion, unleaded head etc. The original engine is lost, so a modified MG 1622 engine will go in. The chassis is kaput, rusty and accident damaged so I will need to build a new one (anyone have original 2A chassis drawings/dimensions?). The body is bad but recoverable and there is a 2nd body for spare sections if needed. Bonnet is missing all of the structure below the lower air intake so that is going to be a challenge. But all the suspension, diff and driveshafts are there.

I’ve often wondered how much simpler a restoration of a mainstream marque must be. Albeit more rust issues but a help of a lot more straightforward!

Retroracecar.com might be able to sort you a chassis and spanking new body. They are building race Granturas as kits.

Andrew Gray at Grays Motoring Solutions will have the majority of the other stuff you need or knowledge of where you can get it.

The parts market is not bad if you look in the right places, many items will be stocked and on shelf.

Keep us updated, maybe start a new topic for the restoration.

Cool, never heard of them so far but put them in my contact list.

As they seem to be specialised/limited to Mk3 and Griffith 200/400 they my not do MK2 chassis' or bonnets or rears.

Congratulations Ron, and thank you for taking the car(s) on and in doing so, save them from the scrapper. I wish you good luck and deep pockets!

Quick update on restoration progress, holidays keep interupting but new chassis 90% built, engine rebuilt, diff and gearbox still need attention but placed in chassis for mounting point fabrication. Body to be lifted on next and probably will go for modifying to bolt on rather than bonded, that will prove to be a big challenge

Congrats ... that's really clever to be able to build a chassis from scratch with no jig bow.

Can't wait to see further photo's of it's progress.

I used a very thick piece of plywood with battoning behind to keep everything flat, got it absolutely level for an electronic level to work, then layed the old chassis on it and marked out the key points and screwed jig pieces from wooden blocks in place to keep everything exactly in place for welding. Managed to identify a twist/bend in the old chassis (not surprising with the rust and very badly repaired accident damage) and correct this in the new chassis. The old chassis thankfully had all of the critical areas intact, the only remaining challenge is the front hoops for bonnet mounting (Im looking at another grantura this week for dimensions) and the rear body mounting but that can be sorted when the body is loosely fitted. All in, less than £300 for steel so far plus another £120 for the VW spring avis adjusters. Not expecting the low outlay to last much longer though.......

That's looking very smart,

I see the engine and box is set back quite a long way in the chassis, these must handle quite well then ?
