Grantura for historic racing

I've decided that this winter I want to buy a Grantura to use for historic racing next year.
I will be new to TVR's
Questions:
1. What's a good resource for finding out about the different models/ specifications. I'd expect that the 1800 MG engined car (mk 3?) would be want to know which model's likely to be best for pre 66 FIA racing.
2. Other than through the owners club, where can I find one!? I dont want a restoration job. Either a fresh or no so fresh road or race car would be ideal.
3. Finally, would a '60's Griffith 200/400 be a bad idea for endurance racing? Whilst I know they are more money I think that they may break too often.

Firstly if you really want a grantura then budget for about £20k to put a competitive one together.
A Griffith will be double that to make it really competitive
Mine is being built on a budget with a pretty non competitiive engine to enable me to shake the car down for a season and it will outshop at approx £28k
If you want to go FIA european racing bear in mind the cars in the Griff class you will be racing against and their cost / power / set up.
In a grantura you will always generally loose to an elan. (thats what I am told anyway)
What about HSCC ? If so you will be competitive in a Tuscan V6 but this isn't a pre-65 car.
My good mate Spadge at Cottage Classics has recently re-built a grantura which may be what you want. You may persuade him to sell it, however I do know he has a longing to race it himself. you need to catch him off guard when he has a wages bill to pay.

I think you'd need a Griffith to beat the Elans. Even then... I remember watching Griffiths racing at Snet a few years back, they'd all burble down the straight leaving the Elans for dead then bury the brakes about 200 yards from the corners, then fight to stay in a straight line as they slowed. Whereupon the Elans would streak past still accelerating, dab the brakes 50 yards out and scoot round. The Griffiths would burble by on the next straight and so it went on... not sure who won in the end.
Hugely entertaining for all concerned
The past two seasons I've been lucky to racing amongst other things an FIA MGB and an FIA Elan (albeit a 71 car).
Elan would be my ideal car, but realistically to go as quickly as I'd look to go it would be to be a 26R spec car which is big money (though spending a couple of years building a car up to 26 R spec may be an option).
MGB is a good easy car to drive but whilst it is potentially a class winning its not that quick overall.
At Spa a couple of weeks ago a couple of Grantura's caught my eye and as being quicker than a B (about the same as the 71 Elan though not as quick as a 26R) and would just be something 'different' to what I've already been driving.
Whilst I recognise that a Griffith would be in a class with much quicker stuff, the reason for interest in a Griffith is because it would be nice to be towards the front the pack rather than competing for class honours around the middle/ back!
Although more moeny it still appears good value relative to similar engined cobras etc. Realistically though a Grantura is where my budget is at.
