In the summer my 3000m headlamp switch melted on the top of the Stevlio pass! It got too hot and the previous owners araldite repair melted. I've been managing to hotwire it since but cannot find a replacement part from usual places - it is the lucas one with the chrome bezel and i guess 3 throw (off- sidelamp/dashights - headlamp). Anyone know what other cars they were fitted to so i can try other marques? Thanks

I'm not sure what they're off but when I needed a new Hazard switch for my 3000S I managed to get one from Holden www.holden.co.uk/

The switches with the chrome bezel were also fitted to (don't laugh) Duple Coaches. I have some brand new fan switches but have never tried converting them to a light switch by swapping the fascia.

Try David Geralds. Alternatively, I can let you have a new fan switch cheaply.

IIRC there are at least 2 versions of switches fitted to the M series. My 79 had switches which were made by Lucas for British Leyland. The comment from the Lucas salesman when I purchased some was "They were the worst switches ever made by Lucas - but to BL standards they were good"

You will find that the 'H/R/W' switch is very hard to find. In fact most of the switches with words on are difficult to find - though sTeVeR, Adrian Venn or DG may have some supplies. I also bought one from Heart of England Morgan - yes, Morgan's had them as well.

Good luck

I removed the ashtray and put in a small panel with new switches for the lights and fans (manual override). This left the non-working switch in the original place.

I felt it was quite a neat solution, never used the ashtray anyway, but it confused the hell out any MOT man who would spend a minute or so switching the non-functioning switch on the dashboard!

I binned the lot and replaced with new, found them at an auto jumble..new switches cost me total £3.50!
(50p each) Look real good and have a higher amp rating, still ended up wiring relays cos i can't stop messing!

Supes.
