When I had my 2.8i I would meet other people who had/used to have them and without fail they had great/scary stories..such as going through hedges backwards at 80 etc.I thought they were a real hoot and the specials were particuarly good if you were used to ridiculous oversteer and were quite well put together...Any others?

are you sure that you're posting in the right forum? This one is for classic TVRs.
