Hi

Can anybody help, do you know what the tube like blower fitted to a grantura is from, or does anybody have a spare?

Thanks Neil

They weren't "from" anything. In the olden days heaters were an extra and many cars didn't have one at all (I remember when Minis were new the heater and even the sunvisors were options). The heater unit you refer to was an aftermarket accesory made by smiths for people to fit to various cars and vans. I have a new old stock kit in my store (not the one you want) which includes the heater box matrix controls etc, probably for a land rover. The same applies to rear lights and indicators. The legal requirement changed from only needing one rear light to needing two and lots of accesory companies made aftermarket equipment including "Sparco" who made the lights found on early Vixens, Griffiths, Tuscans etc. Flashing indicators were also made by Sparco when they became a legal requirement in the 1950's, before that most cars had the pop out semaphore type "trafficators". How things have changed in such a relatively short space of time. Sat nav, ABS, traction control,in car DVD, Mobile phones, air conditioning, electric windows, fuel injection. Many of these inovations are relatively new or at best were only availble in upmaket cars, they are now virtually standard in most base models and vans. Can you imagine a modern motorway on a wet winters night with all the cars having only one rear light, no indicators, crossply tyres and windscreen wipers that went slower the faster you went. We have made some progress but I am still not convinced about some of it sTeVeR

There is a firm called Clayton Heaters that do modern heaters and blowers for the Triumph TR range. I have been looking into this to see if possible to modify for the M. It could be a possibility for you?

Hi

Thanks for your replies. I will keep searching as I am finishing the door gaps off before off to paint, so no need to panic yet. Did think about selling grantura when saw the price of that mk2a, with the spares i have got it must be worth a fortune!! Will be on road this year, watch this space.
