has anyone had any luck installing longer rear wheel
studs in a 2500m without disassembling the hubs?thanks.

Longer studs can only be fitted by removing the hubs and shafts, there is no 'short-cut' on this one.

i didn't do a good job of asking the question.i was
trying to determine if there was enough clearance
between the wheel stud flange and the backing plate
flange on the bub to drive out the studs once the
the hubs had been removed. since posting i've driven
out the stock studs. they just cleared. it looks like
longer studs might not go back in. have you tried this.

Not on the front, only on the rears. If you try to go wider on the front with longer studs and a spacer, you can screw up the bearings. I fitted wider (7") wheels all round, with 10mm spacers on the rear. On the 3000S you can get away with this, on an M it can foul the rear arches.
