Thats a good idea - I know minifix (Mark) has a lot of info on his site too. The USATVR group have a tech tip scheme, where useful hints and tips are added to their club site.

I'll see what I can sort over the weekend, mind if I use your documents (with credits of course)?

If we can get a few owners to reveal themselves, might give us an idea of how many are left, and create a 'haynes' type resource as you mention.....

Suggest you contact the club events co-ordinator - he will be able to help you out, and let you have some dates when there is nothin else on (Tuscans/GTs etc)

I'll try and get there if I can...

Edited to add : Why not hold it at the Castle Coombe MostorSport Mania meeting at the end of June (weekend after Le Mans)? I'll be doing the bar-b-que again - no one died last year! Give Shrimpo a call....

I live about ten miles from Blackpool and help run the West Lancs branch of the TVRCC.

There are a lot of M series cars in this area, we have even outnumbered the modern TVR's at several meetings. We have about twenty something M's between the members of our group. Because we are so close to the factory there is a lot of interest in TVR's, many of us rember seeing them on the road as schoolkids. One member of our group has an M that he has owned since new and he is now re-building it for the second time!

I have three M's myself, two on the road and one restoration project waiting for me to get a bigger garage.

Hopefully our Vixen S3 will have hade a sympathetic rebuild by the summer, and it would be great if there were to be a mid-summer meet up of the older cars.

I know the TVRCC tried it a couple of years back, without much success, but how many do you think would turn up now, and how much interest could be generated?

I'll have to keep my eyes on Pistonheads a bit more.

By the way we've owned our car for 5 years now, and made the trip to Blackpool and back faultlessly for 'Back Home'. Never been as reliable since though, but we love it as we'd love a 3 legged dog if we had one.

As far as dates are concerned, does anyone know when Mania 2003 is planned for, and other club events like Back Home?

Alternatively, Sprintmp, do you have the events co-ordinators email address, and i'll get a full calendar.

Numbers wise, can we see a show of hands from PHers if this would be of interest?

Cheers, Tony.

I am not sure you could call 3 M's an addiction. There is someone in our group who has owned many TVR's and has actually owned four or five at once. Thats an addiction!

It is looking like we will be arranging another autotest at Back Home this year. It would be great to get more pre-wedge cars there. When we set up the cones it will be an M that is used to check the spacing and so you can be sure that a M can complete the course clean!

Bring your M's and show the newer car owners how its done!

I had seven at one time, but I'm down to four at the moment (1 3000S, 2 Taimars and an M 'project') plus two spare rolling chassis. Hopefully, by June of this year I'll be down to just one, but I said that last February

We've got an early 3000M (Feb '73), not on the road at the moment, got neglected when I bought a Chimaera. Not sure if it is common knowledge, I had been told by several M series experts that all 3000M's were sold built (not as kits). At back home a couple of years ago I sat next to Mike Bigland and Martin Lilley, Martin assured me that the first 3000M's were kit cars (including ours - he knew all the chassis numbers from memory). Mike is a very interesting chap as well.

If you are trying to trace the M's, Mervyn is probably a good place to start

Lots of the M's were sold as kits, BUT most were not what you think of as a kit.

It was a tax dodge, supply drivechain, chassis and body as three bits and it was a kit not a car.

However to deliver said 'KIT' the body was rested on the chassis, not drilled and bolted, just resting on.
The engine/gearbox needed something to transport them on so lets just drop them into position on the chassis engine mounts.

So when KIT car arrived you took a half inch drill and drilled from underneath the eight mounting holes and put in the supplied bolts, the same with the two rear mounting bolts. Installed the propshaft and then connected all the pipes/wires etc between engine, chassis and body. Total build time for the 'kit' one afternoon.
