Morning!

Does anyone know where to get hold of seat belt bolts with the low profile heads used on the M? They're the ones that go through the rear wings for the back two mounts, and through the floor for the third point. I tried a couple of local motor factors over the weekend, but they just said 'try your main dealer, they're vehicle specific'. Should I assume they're Triumph bits?

Any advice appreciated as always!

You could see if any of these www.rimmerbros.co.uk/cgi-bin/rimmer.bat?tr6/trim-belts#Factory%20Seat%20Belts look like the ones..

Tony

Do you really want to put the old belts back in, they were never very good at the best of times, ie locked when you didn't want them to or refused to lock when you did (happened in my case, I had to tie a knot in the strap to make it a fixed belt to get home!!).

Unless you have some very nice refurbished (and tested!!!) belts I would stay away from them and fit 3 point harnesses using the two floor mounting points and the lower of the rear points.

Only a personal opinion (after all its your life!!)

Thanks Terminator and David,

We've sourced some belts from Europa that are pretty much identical to the original (and now knackered!) belts we took out. They work out at just over £30 a side, and use the same mounting holes and brackets etc as the old ones, but the old bolts themselves met a grizzly end with the angle grinder during removal.....

I had thought about a three point harness, but as i've heard a lot of people say, they're only recommendable when using a roll bar too, as if you do go over, it will restrict your side to side movement.

Whats your view on this?

Thanks again, Tony

I fitted a set of 3-point harnesses in the S soon after I got it as the original fitments were static belts and they were worse than useless. The inertia-reel belts in my Taimar were ok and I'd stick with those given the choice, unless I was going to use it more on track that on Queen's Highway.

That's my opinion, since you asked!

Just to close this one off, the belts we had on order from Europa arrived last week, and they came complete with bolts in the kit. Just hope they're all long enough now! Top service from Europa, throughly recommended for classic bits.
