Has anybody modded the heater so it works better? I am thinking of putting a new fan on to the heater box so it has less distance to blow.

When I rebuilt my M, I replaced the fan with an upgraded MGB one - purchased from the now defunct(?) Moss. Not sure if the Taimar uses the same fan though.

The taimar has a fan (i think dolimite) fitted right at the front of the bonnet that blows through ducting in the inner wing into the tvr made heater box then into the car.

As I thought, that's different from M's. You could try Rimmer's to see if they have an upgraded fan. Have you had a word with Adrian Venn to see if he has any ideas? Edited by sprintmp on Wednesday 3rd October 15:13

As it happens, my '78 Taimar (B4 I took it apart) had the heater fan grafted into the heater box approx. 2 inches in front of the exchanger - a very good idea because was neat and had a quick heating response, however, it was a circular fan fitted into a square section duct without any sealing so it never worked that well. My plan is to repeat the arrangement with my Taimar rebuild, but ensure that there is no way that the air can bypass the fan within the heater box and reduce the efficiency. 1/2 a tube of silicone sealer or some glassfibre filler should do the job. The only thing I'll change is to install a high flow motorbike fan (a fantastic M-series upgrade in so many ways!).

I have a single speed fan and a two speed switch in my 'M' so would be interested if anyone can suggest a more powerful motor/fan combination.
The car is used all year round and it gets a bit misty this time of year.

We are buying a fan from an electronics catalogue, Putting it in the heater box to blow through, Working out resistor voltage to allow the two speed to still work, more when up and running!

I'll be interested in what you do. My 'M' is away now - last run this year was to Dorset BBQ last weekend - so I don't need hot air. The car is always warm inside, especially in the summer, so what I need is some extra cool air blowing in.
