Bumpers for my 2500m?
Discussion
You can get Stainless Steel ones from David Gerld www.davidgeraldtvr.com/ There's a picture in the parts section.

I've bought a second hand GRP one from a friend as one of my rubber ones is starting to split quite badly. Apart from it being extremely light, compared to the rubber one, it looks very much the same on the car as the rubber one. From about 10ft away it's difficult to spot the difference. The main reason I haven't fitted it yet is that I don't think it would be anywhere near as good in a prang.

If you want to try Adrian Venn, he runs Exactly TVR web address www.exactly-tvr.demon.co.uk. I buy all of my spares from Adrian and he also does some work on my car.

True, but then how good would the rubber ones be? The ones we've taken off seemed pretty hefty, so i'd imagine the shock would be sent back into the bodywork, the same result as using the GRP ones. Do you mean from a damage to car or damage to whatever you've hit point of view?
There is a pretty substantial cost different, so i'm trying to figure out which will be best to go with. Would there be an MOT implication?

I was thinking of damage to the 3000S. If you just nudge something with the rubber bumpers they would give but of course the fibreglass ones wouldn't. If you hit anything at speed I wouldn't have tHought they'd make much difference. There's no MOT implications as you could take it for it's MOT without the bumpers. It's just sharp edges sticking out that they worry about.

I had a set of GRP ones on my Taimar, if you sanded them smooth and they tyre-blacked them, they looked just like the rubber ones.
Don't reckon either are any good in a prang, though rubber ones may save a (very) low speed parking type knock. Any faster and the whole bonnet will probably come off!!

I have seen different types of GRP bumpers, the ones from Adrian Venn looked really good and as a set on a car look good. I know somebody who has a full set on his car.
In my opinion the rubber bumpers and GRP ones cannot really be mixed on a car because they do look different. I tried a GRP bumper when one of mine split but it looked odd next to the rubber ones. Nigel kindly gave me a split one which I was able to repair and this has solved the problem for now.
It did cross my mind that a bump in a car park would possibly crack a GRP bumper. But I think that that is the only way to go. Rubber ones (if they are available) will be very very expensive and would not make sound economic sense to keep buying these to replace split originals. I think eventually it would be better to go GRP. They might be more fragile, but at least they woun't rust from the inside and split.
