I've been attending a course near Bath this week and have been passing an MG garage each day which has a pale blue Grantura for sale - reg no. 5946 KV. It appears to be in pretty good order externally (hence the price tag of £10495!). Does anyone know any history of this car?

Interesting observations about the split in TVR owners between old and new, I have noticed the same. Its good to get a nice wave from another TVR owner, does anyone else feel stupid waving at some bloke in a Tamora who flys by without a clue as to what he has just passed and wasn't even looking?! My local region has a huge turn out but never any pre wedge and lucky to find any of those. i do know classic owners in the area, and the general view is that to go is a waste of time because the chances of another classic being there are slim. I know where this view comes from. I don't think modern TVR owners are rude or unfriendly, but I have found that they don't want to talk about the same things i want to. (Stocks and shares vs trunnions and bushes)

Don't get me wrong though, some of my best friends own Chimaeras.........!!!!

Also on this, that seems a lot for a Grantura?? There are a few M's about with non specialist dealers at the moment for big big bucks- like that V8 taimar that was in Sprint. At 15K I am not surprised it is still sitting on the forecourt.

I find that a lot of new TVR owners (up to the Cerbera anyway) will wave hello, but I guess that quite a few don't know the old cars too well. After all, there were not a lot made and there are even fewer in regular use now.

I think the quantity thing has a lot to do with it . . ..also reliability, Ive been using classics as everydayers doing 20k miles a year for the last 3 years . . . .now Ive got the Vixen, I also have a 'modern' car . . .a victim of my own success!

a friend of mine has an elise and a P1 impreza . . .he test drove various TVR's last year, when he drove my vixen he said it handles/steers better than any of the other TVR's he'd driven . . . .I was well chuffed.

its stil a pain in the arse half the time though, which makes for plenty of talking points !

Time for a distinct Classics owners club, or less radically, a 'special interest group' perhaps?

I've long since stopped giving modern TVRs a wave since the Mrs.said it seemed 'geeky'!

Though a bloke in a Griffith waved at me in Chipping Ongar last week. I was impressed.

I've never come across an M series or earlier on the road, although I have seen quite a few wedges.

When out in Chris's Chimaera we get lots of waves though, primarily due to the bright purple paint job I expect.

Funnily enough though, when I wave at tivs from the Astra, I just get a load of blank looks, and a dig from the missus......

Roll on the day when the M and the Chim can convoy together, wonder which one will get the most attention then...!

Seems like the classics are a bit territorial, don't get more than one being used per region.....

its also that theyre so stylish that the general public need protecting . . . .to see two classics together would be a syle overload for many people, it would cause accidents and mental health problems.

its tough job, but some of us have to do it

Was going to go to an Austin Healey meet at my local pub in Epping on Sunday, but took her out on Monday and she coughed and spluttered all over the shop! Don't think I'd even risk the 5 minute drive to the pub now.

A service well and truly beckons. Shame.

...Now where's that Luminition brochure.

There are often 6 or more Granturas, Vixens, Tuscans and "M" Series cars at the Greater Manchester, Cheshire meeting

Noticed the garage's price had come down to £9495 (i.e. £1k off)....still seems a little high though (or is this a going rate for a A1 Grantura?).

Is that the garage on the (old) A4 at Batheaston? If so that car has been there for months. If it comes down another £3k I might be interested.

Spotted anotherone for £2000, has chassis and V5 for a mk 4 and an MGA TC engine. Beats £10000 eh?
