Any hints or tips on changing the starter motor on a 3000M, it looks hard to reach, does it come out easily from below?
thanks,
Robert.

It can be done from below, but be prepared for rasped knuckles!

Good luck!

When I did mine many moons ago, I undid the starter motor using long extensions on my socket set. I then found to drop it down past the chassis rails, I needed to undo the engine mount and jack the engine slightly.

Its possible to do but usually involves a lot of swearing (watch the heat shield and the cables on re-assembly, don't want to melt the wiring after a few miles.

I've just checked the information in my profile, it cost me about £150 to have my starter fixed last year by Exactly-TVR.

As with most jobs like this, the first time will take ages, but subsequently you'll become an expert.

I went straight to the expert as I was then using my car everyday, so needed a quick turnaround!

Thanks for the help, I managed to change it ok, I had to remove the oil filter to get the exhaust manifold off and after taking out one spark pug the starter came out upwards but it was very tight.
cheers
Robert.
