Counting the days to collecting my newly acquired 3000S at the weekend - black (known as Penthouse Trim, I'm told), reg UJX312T - anyone know some history?
First challenge is driving her back from B'Ham to Glasgow !! Any PH'rs close to the M6/A74 who can offer a fellow (TVRCC) member a port of call, should s**t's creek appear without a paddle ! Any advice what to pack in my emergency bag (I heard the throttle cable is known to wear!). Photo to follow, once I know how ! My first TVR and I can't wait!

Another question - is there a 'bible', like SH's for the S series?

Duncscz,

Plugs, wire coat hanger, fuses, wire for bridging circuits, oil, WD40, foot pump, fire extinguisher, wire brush, full tool kit incl. sockets & tools for electrics. If you're really feeling paranoid, take some spare lengths of water & petrol hose as well & replace any brittle ones you find before you set off.

I would suggest axle stands as well....but that would be silly

Hope the drive back is fun

Kris..
'75 1700M (well used!)

ps. a throttle cable is a VERY good idea if the accelerator pedal hasn't got a stop to limit it's travel - I went through one cable a month until Adrain Venn modified mine for me.....

I am just off M6/M56 intersection, about an hour from Brum. You will have a good idea by then how things are shaping up.
If there is any likelyhood of rain take a wet suit or at least a change of trousers sTeVeR

Our 3000S had such a stop - first think I did was adjust to give more travel, it only allowed half throttle!

AA Membership with Relay (or equivalent) and Mobile Phone

You can just get too paranoid about everything that could go wrong, so just pack the above two items and enjoy you're journey

It was great - roof down all the way ! No problems with the temp (thanks for the advice !) though gauge still reads high (but steady). Need to check voltage reg earthing first (fuel guage is also reading high)- that's once I locate it!

FYI My 79 3000s Gauge as follows, temp. 90c,oil 70lbs, volts14 fuel gauge inaccurate most of the time. Also as the volt gauge is far off center (in lhd models) it is hard to get a good look at it when driving. Congratulations on owning the First of the TVR open cars, ENJOY. P.S.Don't store any clothes in the trunk(boot)they WILL smell like fuel.
