I have (I believe) a common problem where the boot strut and/or screws has pushed up into the fibre glass (3000S). In order to stop things getting worse, I was thinking of gluing a metal plate with fixed bolts in place and fixing the strut plate to this. Any recommendation for the type of glus to use? Any experiences ?
The repair to the boot-lid surface will have to come later...

Could you not bond it on using some more GRP & resin, or as a temporaryish measure use some P40? Not sure glue wise, but from experience of things sticking together in the garage with this stuff (that shouldn't necessarily be stuck together!), it does the job!

May I recomend replacing the strut with a mechanical type hold open devise. The pressure from the strut is excessive for the weight of the panel it supports(you will see what I mean if you ever remove the panel). It will prevent the panel from fitting flush with the body panels that surround it. My 3000s has a MG-B boot lid support to prevent this. The only problem is that when you release the lid it doesen,t pop open you have to get your fingers under the edge to open it. Good luck.

If you're planning to glue to the surface of gelcoated glassfibre clean both surfaces with acetone then scuff with 60 grit until a drop of deionised water no longer 'beads' on the surface. Wash the surfaces with deionised water and allow to dry. Then bond with epoxy. Araldite might work, but G5 Epoxy from West Systems would probably be better. Most chandlers have a good selection of epoxies.
Getting a decent bond is likely to be tricky.
