Hi to everyone in TVR Classic land. I'm currently rebuilding the engine in my TVR 1600M and on taking the head off I have found that the engine has been bored out to 1740cc. Now I'm about to put all the bits back together again and hope it starts. The question I'm asking is where can I get an oversized head gasket?

Petz,

Nice to see another 1600M owner around...we are few and far between. How long have you had the car?

About 4 years, I ran it for the first 3 and I am currently in the process of a full nut and bolt rebuild. I was thinking of dropping in the 3000 lump during the rebuild but then I though 'hey, its a sports car' so I'm sticking with the 1740cc stage 3 tuned kent.

Good plan. I've got a reasonably warm 1700 in mine and it's a hoot to drive when it's on song, although a little frenetic . Which region are you?

A warm Kent engine makes a nice car. The 1600M weighs several hundred pounds less than the 3 litre cars and is much more go-kartish (rather than initial understeer). A good balanced little motor but not a nimble as a Vixen.....

The 1600s may not be as nimble as the Vixens, but then that's the price you pay for a beefier chassis and the possibility of carrying two small bags AND a spare wheel

Petz,
Whereabouts up North ?? I also have a 1972 1600M up North ( Newcastle ) which I have owned for 12 months and haven't yet driven as it was in a shocking state when I acquired it and have been restoring for the past year.

How about attending a West Lancs TVRCC meeting, a few of us like to take our cars out for a propper blast now and again (and some of us have M's)

You should make the effort. I've been made very welcome, despite the fact that I drive a Lus.

Nice pub too......

Pat.
