Who or where is the best source of historical data of 3000S models ?

My black 3000S, registered on 12th March 1979, chassis number 4682, has a 'Penthouse' badge on the front grill?

Anyone know if she was produced for some special event (I guess associated with Penthouse magazine?).

Anyone know the first and last chassis numbers of the 3000S ?

Thanks.....

Because I have an anorak I can tell you that Penthouse featured the Taimar Turbo and 3000S in March 1979, this was reprinted in Sprint in March 1985. I no longer have a set of TVR Car Club Sprints, but someone else may be able to scan the article and email it to you.

I'll take my anorak off now

Steve Heath's S series bible also states there was a "Penthouse S"... standard except for a few decals IIRC...

Being that I have an older anorak I actually have the "Penthouse" magazine. The article is "It takes two to turbo" and was done by Sir Stirling Moss.It features a taimar Turbo and a white 3000S which has John Brittens reg number TVR4 but no Penthouse badge.
TVR did a "Penthouse" S2 with a "wooden effect" dash. That didn't have a Penthose badge on the bonnet either but it did have Maria Whittaker sat on the bonnet almost wearing some clothes.
Off to pick up my anorak from the dry cleaners.

Anorak Mode Again

The Penthouse S that Podie refers to was around 1988/89 about the same time as the launch of the Tuscan challenge. An S was done up in Penthouse Livery and there was a photo shoot with Maria Whittaker (take the calming tablets now Terminator!!). There was going to be a special version of the car launched, there were Press Releases, but whether any cars were actually made to that spec, I don't know.

TVR then got a bout of political correctness and ever since have distanced themselves from the old 'girly' days (something that made TVR and Martin Lilley famous!!)

At the same time Penthouse produced a special newstand magazine called Girls and Cars or something similar and this featured both the S and the 390SE with appropriately clad models!!

Anorak away now

Calming tablets bolocks! You may recall that it was I who got the negs from the Penthouse publishers Northern & Shell and reprinted the car plus Maria on the front cover of our car club magazine.

Penthouse did a special issue called 'Penthouse Car Girls' in 1988. Features 3 articles on TVRs along with a host of other stuff. I picked up (stole) a copy from the TVR hospitality suite at the 1988 Motorshow and I've still got it - none of the pages are stuck together either.
