Oil Filter for 3000M
Discussion
'Afternoon all
I've posted this on the Pre-80's egroup, but just in case you're not a member of that perhaps a post here as well.
The standard Ford 3ltr oil filter is not of the 'non-return' type. I remember that there is a Volvo equivilent oil filter that fits the Essex engine, but is of the 'non-return' type. Does anyone know the Volvo model? Or alternativly, the Champion/Fiamm model number?
Thanks for help.

I had a chat with sTeVeR (very helpful as usual), and he advised that it was not really neccessary to use a non-return filter. I ended up with a Fram PH2857A. When speaking to a Ford garage about other things they quoted their reference as EFL90 (part number 1555451 I believe).
However, they also informed me that the Essex engine was no longer listed on their electronic parts database, and that they would need to go to the old microfiche to look up parts. They did tell me that parts for this engine are becoming fewer and fewer - in fact they no longer keep distributor caps or rotor arms 'on the shelf' and they would need to order if I required one on these. At least they are still available from our own Pre-80s specialists.

It is always worth asking at your local friendly ford dealer. Mine has found me lots of useful parts, gaskets, carb breather valve, thermostat housing etc. I once asked a friend who had access to Ford's parts systems to check the quantity of thermostat housings in stock (at the parts depot) and the answer was "so many we don't record the number, over 1000"
