Griffith 200/400 Market price ?
Discussion
Blimey - the pile of a thousand bits, foil and all proof cost me that 4+ years back from France.
A good one is a 40k+ car mininimum (road one).
Me I have never really cared about values - apart from knowing the thing I own is very rare (Griffiths are for life - well mine will be - the rest of it anyway (life)).

Looks fantastic.
Must have been some very good internal work on the lump (with std headers inside the rails to make 360bhp).
Interesting bonnet - sort of a mix of Griff with the long full length later Vixen bulge, rather than the single original bulge above the air cleaner.
Must have been an interesting drive on the period rims with presume 6J wheels !!

Have to admit it was the owner prior to myself (Tim John) that did all the serious (ie expensive) work to it; the tuning basics were a 650cfm 'double-pumper' Holley carb, ported&polished heads with raised compression, Mallory dual-point dizzy, a fairly wild cam and bespoke tubular exhaust & headers (the standard ones incredibly restrictive apparently). Don't know about pistons, rods, crank etc. I never put the car on the rollers myself but it came with a dyno plot from a previous session which yielded 310BHP @ 5400 RPM at the wheels (it was noted in pencil that this corresponded to 360-365BHP at the flywheel and that at this point in the session the rolling-road had given up the ghost!). It did put the power down surprisingly effectively (the Salisbury lsd no doubt helped) The peculiar bonnet dates back I believe to it's US days; Joe Raul at the Griffith Club sent me a photo of 200/6/176 in the '70s (sourced from it's first owner) painted a lurid purple, with 'flame' graphics, massive spacers on the wheels and side-exit exhaust. It looked utterly ridiculous, BUT I think it did have the same bonnet it has now so the strange bonnet was a product of it's hot-rod days!Must have been some very good internal work on the lump (with std headers inside the rails to make 360bhp).

Five lug wheels on the lovely thing above. Standard or modified? As in: was it sold new with that set-up?
Also, are the wheels Cragar SS?
Yep, they're Cragar SS but no, they weren't on originally; Another photo Joe sent (he thinks from the early 70's) showed the Griff in it's original Green (prior to the owner's Acid Trip and Hot Rod/Ghost Machine obsessed epiphany!) with- if I recall correctly- wire wheels. It was difficult to tell for sure but the it looked as if the wheels in the purple hot-rod photo were the same Cragar's still on it - albeit with ridiculous spacers and unfeasibly wide rubber that presumably could be fitted on the rims! Also, are the wheels Cragar SS?

David Gerald Ltd brought the car to the UK in 1990 and completed the initial restoration -(Chris Schirles might have had a hand during this ?)- it was resprayed silver and remained this way until Tim John had it returned to a fairly original Jaguar BRG and (bless him) chucked ridiculously huge amounts of money at it (not only on hugely overhauling the engine, but on luxuries such as Connolly hide seats & Wilton carpeting and-perhaps most importantly-a completely bespoke cooling system which forever banished the overheating problems that plagued the original 200s). Their appear to be bits of Chris Schirles handywork in that car!
I was reasonably well jemmed up on it's history as it came with a huge file when I bought it, I still had all the old TVR 'Sprint' magazines which, as luck would have it, had a number of features on the car & it's progress under Tim's ownership (little did I know I was to own the same vehicle years later) and Joe Raul in the US proved to be a mine of further interesting information regarding it's previous life and it's run-ins with the good taste police, but obviously now I'm relying on my ever-failing & unreliable memory!
Anyway Jellison, good to see you're keeping the 200 dream alive!
Yeah, I knew that question would be coming..... unfortunately The prints I made went off with the car & the email containing them was quite a few computers ago. However, I've emailed Joe Rauh at the Griffith Club (not Raul as I put in the other post - I told you my memory was failing....) to see if he's still got a copy of the hot-rod pic.

Cool - have you ever seen that Crazy Green Bonkers coloured one (air brushed) with weird interior?Oliver, That' probably it- the indicator lights are right, the bonnet shape appears the same & the colours don't look a million miles away from what I remember; I'd pictured the graphics as much more obviously yellow/orange 'flames' and the purple as a much brighter, lighter shade - but then I may well have embellished my memory with a far whackier and vivid image than it actually was. It's a shame you can't quite see if the wheels are the same or whether the side-exhausts are on it.
I do definitely remember the car was sat on some grass near a De Tomaso Pantera in the photo (I do hope Joe Rauh can dig the photo up, if only to prove to myself I wasn't imagining it & to enable us to compare & contrast!)
Good find anyway!

I have replaced the interior, but the paint remains the same. The paint/interior was done 3 owners ago and allegedly won an award at a Washington DC area hot rod show; The World of Wheels.
200-5-007 is alive and well in California where it occasionally visits the local race tracks (Laguna Seca, Sears Point, and Thunderhill). Currently running original engine and transmission, but soon to change. Search you tube for mtang4 to see video of it running at a limited pass Shelby Owner’s Club event.
