Currently the tuscan as no sound system the hole where the original radio was is covered in leather. Will a new CD player fit, have been told by someone that they will not be enough depth for a new system, or should I try and keep the car original and buy a secondhand radio of the era. Could not bother at all and just listen to the growl of the engine.Any thoughts ?

You don't need a radio, the exhaust noise is better to listen to than any other music

I took mine out when it packed up and didn't bother replacing it as there wasn't enough room at the back for a newer radio in the Vixen. I've never turned on the radio in the 3000S.

The modern one in the 3000S also drains the battery.

Old.

I've just bought a still-in-the-box 8-track/radio for the Vixen, 1971 (correct year), still debating whether the (very, very, cool) red LED display will look right in the "Tuscan-esque (note the -esque)" walnut dash it acquired at some point in the last 30-odd years. If I decide against it, it's up for grabs. (cost me $50).

Found a website for a vintage car radio company in Manchester who will wire in RCA's, discreet inputs for iPods, etc so as to have the good bits of modern technology but keep the original look.

Let's face it, you're not going to hear "2x3.5 watts" above a TVR, are you?
