flasher said: But does "inexperience" cover leaving the pit garage at Rockingham testing and driving straight into the pitlane wall??

yes! lol heard about that on DSC, but if you were given a race spec 600BHP GT2 viper im sure you/anyone else would spin it several times, just unfortunate it hit the pit wall!

You can't blame the Viper just because they were 6 laps back. They would only have been 4 laps down had they not stopped. And as has been said before, it was their first race in the car after very limited testing.

Not quite as limited as the the #66 Moggie Aero 8. Not even in the event program cos it was only 2 days old!!!!

I would also like to mention how good that Jag looked. Shame bout the engine.

one more point: Are you refering to the 'EV02SMG' BMW M3?? I saw it in the padock. Very Nice indeed! Speedy7, how much would a version like that cost on top of a "Regular" M3 and is it as quick as the M3 CSL?
Well done on Sunday BTW.

edited 'cos I'm incompetant!

Top fuel this car has a list of mods from upgraded engine with a GruppeM intake system, adjustable suspension, hand made exhaust system to schnitzer wheel etc and should out gun the new CSL in all areas but to put cost on it ????? 50k ????? call in and see at a race.

Viperman the car was not as bad as it looked.

Cheers speedy7. I couldn't afford one anyway I was just interested. I looked a little bit like the ETCC racer 320i.

viperman, you are so obsessed with Vipers you can't see tha facts...The pair of them are in the car as a silly promotional excercise and will end up causing mayhem (like thay did on Sunday, and I did see the whole thing) due to their incompetance at this level. I'd like to think that many years of watching top level motorsport and being a reasonably experienced track day driver I would be in a position to judge. The series has lost some top notch drivers and cars since last year, Callum Lockie, Mike Jordan, Micheal Caine, Martin Short, to name a handfull.

What has happened to Calum Lockie this season, is he still racing BMW's??

Calum is indeed back in the BMW. He had various things in the melting pot during the off-season. He even mentioned the possibility of getting a TVR drive, but it didn't happen in the end.

Personally I really enjoyed the Tuscan race(s) - the second race in particular was thrilling with the lead changing so many times.

I'm afraid I didn't really give the GTs a chance. Watched about 15 laps and saw the Tuscan have a few goes at the 2nd place Mosler. The TVR looked better under braking but didn't seem to have the power to make it stick. I then got very cold and headed back to the Insane team awning for more coffee, burgers and tales of derring do....

Is the field likely to expand over the course of the season, 17 cars seems on paper at least, a poor turn out, Ted's list of participants was somewhat longer?

Will try to persuade the Mrs Felix that she really needs to experience the GT racing at Snetterton on Sunday.

My current (educated) guess is 20 plus for Snet

Due to circumstances beyond my control, enforced hangover, general apathy and forgetting to look at the timetable on my part, we got to Snetterton at about 1430, great timing I know, only for the wife to baulk at the £25 pp entry fee, not really worth it when there was only 1 1/2 hrs of racing left.

Still it was a lovely day for a drive so we tootled up to Norwich. So there's me thinking I'll catch up with the results in the paper the next morning, GT's at least, and not a dicky bird, admittedly I was only looking at The Times. Snippets on the Donnington Super Bikes, even the Bike Le Mans 24, but nada on the GT's.

I appreciate that the series now have a new press relations team, but how good are they at getting the results, at least, to a wider audience?? Made me feel like the sport had gone underground!!

Not seen Teds report yet, so will be interesting to see how the racing went.

PC

BTW did anyone get done by the yellow van on the south bound A11, about a mile from the new Snet junction? The so called Norfolk Speed Initiative!!! The marshals were indignant, one of them had been done at 82mph the day before.

That'll be because the GTs are on NEXT weekend (20th April).

Good job you didn't pay that entry fee! Still, good excuse to go there earlier next weekend.

Felix7, better luck at Snetterton this weekend, but you're living in a dream world if you expect the results to be in the general press. They're not, and that's not just this season, it's normal. Check out Pistonheads for the results, then if you want newsprint get Motorsport News on Tuesdays.

Thanks for that Jeremy

Whoops, don't I feel like a prat , still doesn't explain why the marshal said to me "no you've missed the GT race" does that mean Norfolk folk operate in the future tense???

Did try the Octagon site to look for a Snetterton timetable without any joy, mind you, a combination of a hangover, lack of sleep, general impatience and the need to blow the cobwebs out of whats left of my hair, meant I was keen to get out of the door forgetting that I really should have looked at PH first.

:bigt!tsmilie:

Still an excuse for a lovely drive around Norfolk and realising that the county is not at all car friendly, how many speed camera warnings can you have on one road A143/A134!!!

So I look forward to meeting some PHers next w/e instead then!!

BTW, what the hell was racing then??? MSN I do read as well, to try keep tabs on whats going on - obviously not all that successfully.

I'll be there this Sunday with MidEssex...

Now that the approach to the circuit has changed, it was hard to se what was racing, I assume it is being televised as I could see a TV gantry. Enjoyed watching the bike racing this year on the box.
