Rallycross in Kent

Lydden to play host to spectacular series over Easter

In his first full season of competition since 1997, Gollop has been sensational and leads the British Championship after taking two wins and a second place in the first three rounds. The Easter Monday event will be the first time that Gollop has appeared at Lydden in his championship leading Ford Focus Supercar, which is built and prepared by his own Canterbury-based G-Tech company.

Doran was the winner in round three of the championship at Mondello Park in Ireland three weeks ago but has often had bad luck at his home venue and has never won a championship event at Lydden. Having worked hard to overcome mechanical problems in two events (a broken propshaft in round one and clutch failure in round three) Doran will be hoping that his Ford RS200 has already had its share of trouble for this year.

Also on the event programme at Lydden is the new for 2003 Junior Rallycross Championship which is following the same ten event calendar as the British and BRDA Championships.

Lydden Circuit is between Canterbury and Dover on the A2. The event starts with practice at 9am and racing from 10am. It's ten quid to get in for adults (accompanied children under 15 free).

Saw the first round at Croft - awesome. Pat Doran's flame-gushing, powersliding RS200 has put one near the top of my wish list. Where else are you going to see Group B? I can't recommend it enough. Also looks like a pretty accessible form of motorsport too.

Ill probably be going ... Might even take the TVR if the weather is nice. If not it will be the Rover.

I'm planning to - saw the Nutts Corner round on Sky and it looked great, bought back the memories of seeing it in the late 80s! Even the modifieds were very quick, Novas, Corsas and the like with 2l 16v engines and very close racing. And the mini class was amusing, bouncing their way through the course

I live about an hour away, and there are posters up all the place for this weekend's one.
