Dear Caterham,

Please paint the cars this colour next year.

Thanks.

Tony Fernandes may be my favourite bloke in the world right now. Every QPR fan needs to buy a Caterham and even more so now. That scuppers the next car plan a tad. Maybe he can give Caterham owners free parking at Lotfus Road....That might copmpensate for the garage I'll be needing to rent.

So, as in previous years the Lotus Racing and now the Team Lotus merchadising will have to be rebranded. What a way to thank all the Lotus fans....

Pit stops could be interesting.

Heikki Kovaleinen pulls into the pits to be greated by a bloke in a boiler suit who puts his cup of tea down on the toolbox.

'Change of tyres you say? Right, where's the build manual? Wheels... Wheels, wheels, wheels - section 16, that's the one. Now, what do I need - 'take spanner 'C' and first loosen the brake assembly, making sure the car is supported on axle dollies' - hang on a sec Heikki - STEVE, I NEED A HAND HERE!'

They could have just saved some money and divided up the season: BBC races for Caterham; Sky races for Lotus.

some news say that Virgin Marussia will have chassis named Marussia, others - team will be called Marussia, with Virgin ads on cars.

I feel that it is about team name and it will be just Marussia next year.

Yes, I agree. If anything has brought about this conclusion it is surely the much greater "success" of the black & gold Renault Lotus cars than the green & yellow Lotus Renault cars.

Having said that, with a Renault engine in the Red Bull cars this season has really shown up the lack of performance from other Renault engined teams.

I hate 'I told you so's' but this was surmised on these very forums back in April and has been blindingly obvious since 'Caterham' has been splattered all over the F1 cars..

I can just see it next year, when someone comes over to chat about the car:
"What sort of car is that?"
"It's a Caterham"
"Oh, like the F1 cars?"
"Yes, exactly like the F1 cars..." hehe
And conversely...will they be fitting those dinky little wheel-over mudguards to the F1 cars - now that would be a Marketing coup...rolleyes

Legal requirement for road cars (not allowed open wheels).

Lotus cars still don't actually have any involvement with the F1 team though do they? It might now be called Team Lotus but the now Caterham has the true Lotus spirit IMO and I don't think anyone can take that away (for the time being).

Certainly seems the wrong way round to me. All the rebranding that has to be done to 'Team Lotus' trucks, equipment etc seems a waste as Tony Fernandez did his best to keep the Lotus name true to Norfolk. When I spoke to him about the situation a few months ago, he was convinced he was going to be able to keep the iconic Lotus badge.

Caterham F1 Team seems weird and destined to be permanently at the back of the grid like HRT, I hope not.

Imagine the updated Caterham website -

Now you can choose between the Caterham Graduate series from £20k including the car, or try our new offer, the world famous Formula One series, £20million and you get to take the car home at the end of season!

Racing would be a nice change for these guys. The entire naming thing has really devalued the Lotus name in F1 in my opinion.

Also, if this is the Tony Fernandes that owns QPR, then it's really devalued wink

Their inability to do anything good has devalued the Lotus name
