Jari-Matti Latvala has tumbled down the Rally Mexico order after rolling with three stages to go.
The Ford driver was running third, having already been delayed by broken suspension on Friday and a damaged wheel on Saturday, when he rolled his Fiesta on the 54-kilometre long Guanajuatito stage.
Although the car was in good enough shape to continue, Latvala did have to stop and change a puncture, resulting in a delay of nearly six minutes. That dropped the Finn from third place to seventh.
Sebastien Loeb continues to lead the rally over Citroen team-mate Mikko Hirvonen, while Latvala's disaster means his Ford team-mate Petter Solberg is back up to third.
Mads Ostberg (Adapta Ford) was also delayed on Guanajuatito but had enough in hand to hang on to fourth place ahead of Ott Tanak (M-Sport Ford).
The stage saw two notable retirements in Chris Atkinson's Monster Ford and Evgeny Novikov's M-Sport Ford - the Australian breaking his suspension and the Russian crashing - but both were already running down the order under Rally 2 after incidents on Saturday.

so the latest is that Loeb doesn't want longer rallies because he misses his bed.

so I suggest the following:
if the WRC currently takes 120 days a year to complete (recce and competition), then let that be the limit for the future. But instead of dividing them equally between all the rallies, have some events that are 5 days and require 5 days of recce and other events that are 1 day and require 1 day of recce. And everything in between. You could even have a blind rally like the old RAC which would save a few days off the total allowance and allow you to run a 5 day rally, or have a two days event that just repeats day 1's stages and therefore only requires 1 day's recce.
Finally you could issue a route map, safety notes and a DVD of the stages for certain rallies and let the crews amend what is given without going anywhere near the stages. They could do this on the flight over to new Zealand for example. Not only saving time but also filling in the boredom of another long flight.

One of the issues that has hurt the WRC is the full season of 12-13 identikit events. Absolutely no variety at all- which is what Rallying is all about.
Monte is a possible for a 4-5 day event, as is RallyGB. Why not include Ypres which is over in just over a day?
Much as I think Loeb is a genius, he has dominated during the WRC's least enjoyable era, I think he did the Safari in 2002, and that is really the only Endurance event he has done.

Don't put too much stock in what Loeb says, this year will be his last.http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/98212

Has anybody used the WRC app on the Nokia Windows Phones? It's pretty nice, sponsored by Nokia.

Loeb was quoted as saying next season will be his last, as I think he is already penned in for the Dakar for 2014
When he did the interview with the RedBull magazine, he thought this season may be his last, but he has an option for next or something. So has he confirmed he'll be competing next year as well?vtgts300kw said:

At the moment Loeb has a contract with Citroen until the end of next season, but he has hinted that this could be his last season, due to these Endurace Rally's, which he thinks are to long.Personally I think he will see his contract out with Citroen, then his first out of WRC he will be 40 when he competes in the Dakar in 2014.
Loeb is approaching a crossroads and for once struggling to decide which way to turn.
